Hey Everyone,
As many of you know, my step-daughter Natalie entered the apartmenttherapy.com Small, Cool 2010 design contest with her tiny 280 square-foot San Francisco apartment. Your votes helped put her over the top in the first round of competition. Now she goes head-to-head in a bracket-style showdown with one other advancing apartment at a time a la the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Her last round was a lopsided win but now she's heads-up with the highest vote-getter in any size division.
Please go to http://contests.apartmenttherapy.com/2010/small-cool/main/faceoff/10 and give Natalie a vote. Check out the pics. She did the whole place herself on the cheap using mostly cast-off furniture, reworked IKEA and remnants, just like her mother taught her. You'll be amazed. This is as grass-rooty as it gets. I taught her a lot of practical stuff like how to lay out a photo collage like the one over her couch and make it work out. She is a very quick study. Many of her competitors spent thousands decorating their places. Natalie is thrilled she got this far, never mind having a chance to win.
Grand prize is a trip to NYC and a decorator shopping spree. Pleas feel free to spread the word!
Thank you,
Jerry
Weird, a friend of mine is in the same contest, but different bracket. Vote for Natalie in the link above, then vote for Julie in this one!

Done and done. Wow, I would think Natalie's space should be a walkover win, it's much nicer looking IMO than the competition.

Agreed... the other one looks too cluttered, especially for a small space

I thought the same about Julie's competition, but somehow she's still ahead.
Natalie's competition has the ability to mobilize her forces and get out the vote. We saw it in the first round when she pulled ahead of Natalie by two votes in the last minute of their last meeting (best 16 advance). This time it's a one-on-one cage match where the victor is the one still standing at the end. The vanquished go home.
The winner in each of the four divisions meets head-to-head in a "final four"-style tournament. It's conceivable Julie and Natalie could meet for all the marbles. So let's get out the vote and make that happen!

I've got 3 or 4 other email addresses - when does voting close?
I think it ends today, but I'm not sure what time. Natalie is ahead by quite a margin, but Julie is still a bit behind. Good call on the multiple emails, I didn't think of that.
I voted for Julie---twice!
Yes it does end at midnight but I don't know which time zone. Natalie is ahead but her opponent can generate a groundswell. She's done it in the past and come from behind before. Think Zanardi at Laguna Seca.
Meanwhile my wife says, "It's like March Madness, but with throw pillows."
I'm a little late to vote, but I really like the "bed alcove" idea. very nice!
But the size makes me feel very thankful for my house. (which we complain is a little small at 1900sqf for a family of 5)

Well? Looks like Natalie won but it also doesn't seem that voting is closed?
