Does anybody have a unique or quick way to get rid of a whole yard of leaves?

What contraptions or devices do you use?

If it is as simple as a leaf blower, how well do they work? Any restrictions to their usage?

Thanks!

Rob R.

P.S. I don't want to rake the leaves. That would suck.

sooo, No children yet.... This is partially why I am the person who needs to rake the leaves. My wife is lazy right now... Or as she calls it "Pregnant". I am not sure that "pregnant" is even a word...I am not sure what it means....She is gettign a little chubby.....

The leaves a little damp right now. Pretty sure they would not burn.... without diesel or gas.

Riding mower with the bagger attached.

I am not buying a riding mower. My yard is about 120 x 100. However, the leaves are in the landscaping and driveway where simple mowing would not work.

I use the leaf blower to get them out of nooks and crannies and onto the yard. Then mow with bagger to condense the volume by about 10X.

This year though I think child labor may be the answer.

If there in the landscaping, you want a blower, preferably one that can also suck/chop/bag.

Once they're in the yard, mulching/bagging mower. I bought a honda that makes short work of even the massive pin oaks we have around here.

can I just use my push mower and cover the discharge side and chew them up into tiny pieces?

That's what I do. But it doesn't look good.

Well with a little yard like that, you could use the 'ignore them' method and wait until the wind removes them and places them in your neighbor’s yard, then complain to your other neighbors that he/she/they haven’t' cleaned up their leaves

Dr. Adrian strongly advises against prescribing 'chubby' to a woman suffering 'pregnancy', it can be harmful to the person trying to administer the term!

Exactly! I ask everythign of this forum. Somebody knows how to do it best. I figure there is a good chance that the somebody who knows is already in this community.

You can seriously get an answer for everything here.

I bought one of these about 10 years ago, I tow it behind the ZTR:

I pile the leaves up behind my barn and let them decompose. I did round #1 last weekend, tomorrow will be round #2.

I was trying to think of a non-GRM way to collect leaves.

In the amount of time you've spent asking for easy, cheap ways to solve the problem, you could have solved the problem with a rake. Which is the cheapest way until your wife comes up with some sort of alternative in about 8 years. Although that is the most expensive solution when all associated costs are tallied up.

Mulching blade, Chuck in place of side discharge shoot and pass over each area twice, as a bonus your lawn will be greener come spring

My definition of Grassroots is not "cheap" nor is it necessarily "simple".

In my definition, we build cool E36 M3 out of used leftover parts and build a robot to chew up the leaves and E36 M3 out cigars.

Seriously though, does anybody have a recomendation for leaf blowers?

Thanks!

Rob R.

Maybe a couple empty 2 liter bottles and some dry ice would work

We have a leaf blower that also doubles as a leaf sucker/mulcher. It's from Home Depot. The suck/mulch option is great, as it compacts the leaves dramatically and also cuts down the number of times you have to empty the bag. You can also snuffle it around a garden to pick up leaves without eating desirable plants. Look for one with a metal impeller, not plastic.

Alternately, my Shop-Vac has a removable motor that can be used as a leaf blower. Given that I got the vac on Black Friday for $25, it's been a very cost-effective purchase. Even at the normal price, it's a great multi-purpose tool and you don't have to worry about storing the blower somewhere.

I haven't bagged up leaves for years now, I just mow them until they turn into mulch. Better for the yard, easier for me.

The Redmax blower in my previous post is way overkill for your small space. Any small, name brand blower will work for your application. You might even consider an electric one.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

But seriously, leaf blowers? Raking? That's crazy. Ain't nobody got time fo dat. I've got quite a few trees on and adjacent to my property, and I just mow over them. Sure, the kids will rake some into a pile for jumping into, but mostly they just get chopped up into lawn food or they blow away.
