It's that time. Mowers have to be pulled out, started (or made to start) for the first time of the season. There always seems to be an issue if you have a crappy old mower like I do.
I have an old Pro-Star mower that had a destroyed mower deck. Deck mounts were snapped thanks to a "helpful" roommate that didn't know where the mower hazards were lurking in the tall grass.
Thank goodness I had one for spare parts. Seems that the "Parts-Car Methodology" has trickled or leaked its way into many areas of my life. Hence all the crap sitting around in my barns and garages.
Here's what I was working on....

Needs moar NAAAAWWWSSSSSSSS!!!1!!1one.
And +1 on "parts mowers."

Love the cup holder.
Just for clarity, that cupholder was NOT factory installed.
I weed whack my driveway about 2x a year, whether it needs it or not. After that, if it takes more than a machette, I'm not doing it. That's the total of my yardwork.
Chainsawing/shredding trees is a separate issue.
And that mower needs a Megasquirt. And a turbo. A big turbo, yeah, that's it. And a beer cooler. Maybe a kegerator on the front.

Here it is after I put it back together (correctly after 2 tries) and mowed with it. I got it stuck in ab muddy area of the field I was mowing. Those tires look aggressive but the dig right into the mud. High-centered almost immediately.
Still cuts extremely well for a 20 year old mower.

Try moving the engine ahead of the rear axle. And lower it some more. And that caster is just too far off. Add about 30 degrees more positive caster and try for -1 degree camber all the way around. And where the heck is the steering wheel? Next, some safety equipment: Change that tank out to a fuel cell, add some roll over protection and a 5 point harness.
nah.. needs ACVdubness.. with a small keg as the fuel tank.
My retired neighbor modified and fit snow chains to his rider to get it to climb his steep-ass hill in the back yard. Works like a berkeleying charm, and it was hilarious to watch him tearing ass around in it after saying "Hey man, you gotta come check this out."
yea, for all the traction that stock lawntractor tyres have.. you might as well be running slicks. lady I worked for outside of Orewigsburg lived on 895. Their property was VERY sloped and the first time her husband went to mow it, he almost got killed because the tyres had so little grip (new mower too) they simply locked up and he slid down towards the highway. A well placed shrub stopped him from disaster
