Trying to keep this great thread going. I'm home alone tonight drinking wine on the deck, enjoying the warm SoNE (not Nebraska ) evening, and listening to contemporary folk music on Pandora. Annie is with our son Jason at a Paul McCartney concert at Fenway Park in Boston. I prefer my music on the JBL speaker. (Flames make great pics.)
OMG, I have finally uploaded something! I've been trying, well, since the last time I last uploaded something. I need a new computer...
I got to meet this cool dude yesterday. This was during its short "kinda wanna fly but not quite ready" phase in life. We thought it was injured. It didnt really mind humans because it does not know how crappy people are. I ended up learning a ton from an amazing guy that rescues and helps ANY animal. And our beautiful owl buddy ended up taking off happy/healthy. And i got an amazing picture. This is a cropped portrait mode on my new iphone 13 extra pro max extreme ultra super deluxe hyperbole phone. I was crouched down to be less menacing, about 6' away.
I snapped this earlier this week and loved it. The subject matter is better than the equipment and skill used to capture it.
Almost real time. Son Jason and family are on a two week vacation in SoCal. Right now they're at a Dodgers - Padres game at Chevez Ravine. This is Jason's pic. First inning. Beautiful field. (Trivia: the Cal Club ran sports car races in the parking lot there in the early sixties).
Went to a local airport open house
The airport is probably the premiere acrobatic training airports on the west coast
Talked to this guy with a Varga....
...turns out the guy raced with Ken Miles, drove with John Sharp and the BRE team, a 5 time national SCCA champion, raced Le Mans 9 times, and won twice! (Lola/Mazda, 300ZX)
Perfect Southern New England weather today. Annie and I drove along the coast in the MX5 RF and passed under the old casino towers in Narragansett. Annie took this pic from the co-pilot's seat. It's not a particularly noteworthy pic from an artistic standpoint, but the structure itself is iconic. This is Rte. 1A.
Then we ended up in Wickford overlooking the harbor for a bite to eat and a cocktail before heading home. Still on Rte. 1A where we stopped for this.
Another road trip today in the MX5 RF. Today we traveled into the Northeast corner of CT known as the Quiet Corner, or the Last Green Valley. Great drivers' roads throughout the area. We ended up at a nice restaurant called Grill 37 in Pomfret. I kinda like this pic I took of Annie peeking through between the water bottle and my wine glass. I'll be back this way tomorrow for the SCCA Majors at Thompson, a few miles from here.
I was at Thompson today for the SCCA Majors. Went back to my car for another bottle of water and noticed that a C8 wanted to park next to me. I thought it made a nice pic.
As enthusiasts cars go, I think I picked the better one. I could've bought either, but I saved a bundle with my choice ... and I have a six-speed manual gearbox, and enjoy it immensely. That's something you can't get with the C8.
