I am concerned about the heavy air traffic. Large planes, small planes, no ATC. Could/ will get hairy. Really don't want to get there after dark.

Have recieved several donations, looks like my little Ranger will be close to full later. Morbid is even sending blankets! Dyin to race kicked in 100.00. WooHoo! Keep it coming kids.
Margie just chimed in. GRM is on board with donations. I'm gonna cry! Well, maybe not, but still all this does put joy in my heart. Thanks, all.
They've had 120 planes volunteer over the last day or so.
Unfortunately, most don't help. Piper Cubs, etc. whose payload/ range simply isn't enough to warrant the fuel burned. Plus, a lot of them are sightseers looking for free fuel.
Bahamas Habitat is trying to weed through them right now. Trying not to get overloaded.
We are bringing all the financing (for fuel, etc) along with us. Flying 2 Cesna 210's and a twin engine Beachcraft Baron right now.
I cannot put into words how I am feeling right now. It is just so wonderful to be associated with such an amazing group of people!
210's and Barons are great, high performance, planes. Will carry enough to make it worthwhile and safe. Carzan has now kicked in, too. Family.
I have sent a request for a donation to my Rock Star nephew. That could be interesting. Foo Fighters, David Grohl.
The planes from Albany GA (Svrex and group) are expected at Ft. Lauderdale Executive tomorrow morning. They will rearrange the cargos to make sure critical stuff goes first. It appears that I will be flying out in Beechcraft Baron, twin engine hot rod. Kewll. Don't really know where I will be going. All in a state of flux.
FWIW-
Some of you have seemed disappointed that you can't respond before I leave on Sun. No problem- looks like we'll be flying again a week or so later.
Keep the interest flowing!
David Grohl's mother, my sister, has sent a check. Don't know how much, but it's all good. She envys my bravery. Whatever. Just doing a Good Thing.
In reply to cwh:
Its an AWESOME thing Chuck! Im working on a few things i hope will help, lots more phone calls in the am... You guys Rock!
My sister wonders how her heathen brother can be part of a Christian Missionary operation. I told her that they are the ones getting help on the ground where it is needed. I don't have to agree on their religion, thay don't have to agree with mine. The whole idea is to get help on the ground where it is needed. So far, we all agree on that. The Haitian people need help. Our culture, our country, our people, can provide that. Not all agree, but help will be sent by good people of all faiths. I would LOVE to see some Muslims chime in.

Okay, I'm in. I've already given to Doctors w/o Borders, but if a fellow "heathen" getting into the place with the Christians gets help there sooner, I'll break my promise to m'self not to contribute to religious orgs. Besides, Haiti is about 90% xian to begin with, right? It's not like the missionaries will find anyone to prostlytize.
cwh, I lost track of which org is yours. Can you post up the link again, please?
He's flying with me. I guess I'm the evil Christian.
That's OK, I think he's pretty cool.
Funds are flowing through Mission Change to support the planes flying. We are connecting with the efforts of Bahamas Habitat
For whatever reason, chw has raised the issue of the "Christian thing" more than a dozen times in the few conversations we have had. Must be something on his mind. I'm OK with him trying to prostlytize me.
By the way, Doctors without borders is a fantastic organization. They may well be where we touch down. If so, I will want autogarphs. Heros, all over the world.
In reply to SVreX:
SVreX, I've contributed through the Mission Change site. I had to produce my phone number and real e-mail addy to finish the contribution. If it's for proving y'all are non-profit, that's OK...but if I start getting spam from Peter Popoff or something, we'll need to have a looooong talk.
Seriously, be careful. The skies are crowded, and there doesn't seem to be much help from the ground.
I agree with you.
I have not contributed through that site, and I'm not an employee. Just a volunteer. But if you start getting junk related to it, let me know. I do know how to get my hands on the neck of the right people.
I hereby agree and promise to stop referring to my non-christian beliefs. I am just very happy to be associated with good hearted people that genuinely want to help their fellow man. I do not try to convince anyone that any way is better than the other. We are here to help, that is all. If I have offended, my sincere apologies.
