That cat looks like it's ready to kill something. I'm not sure I would trust it to drive anything.

Yeah, normally it's dogs.

Yeah about CHINA, not Japan. China != Japan.

Right. China causes SARS to spread to humans by eating civets

My friend from China says the dog tastes good, he's not a fan of cat and it's harder to get because where he lives it's illegal to catch and cook feral animals.

If it's offensive to say Chinese people eat cats and dogs, then it's offensive to say Americans eat cows and pigs.

Jay's point was that the article was about Japan, not China, and eating dog or cat would be rare in Japan. The Japanese tend to keep dogs as pets and pamper them horribly; http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1053861

(@ Dogbreath: ) I know that, hell I have ancestors in my own lineage who come from cultures where dog is a delicacy (northern Sumatera), and I don't see any problem with it personally. My point is mentioning "cat over rice in sweet & sour sauce" in a thread about JAPAN is like saying Americans eat borscht and are drunk on vodka all the time.

If you're going to throw stereotype jokes around, at least make sure they're the right ones...

^^ What Jay said ^^
I know this may offend and/or gross some people out but really, dog ain't half bad if you don't know you're eating it. While out to dinner with some ROK soldiers my first tour in Korea (late 70's) I had dog, of course I didn't find out it was dog till towards the end of the meal. I just thought it was a little tougher than beef but tasted pretty much the same. It was marinated. My Korean wife ate dog sometimes while growing up in Korea. Back then (in the late 50's to mid 60's) it was cheaper than beef. Not common there now. Cat I've never had. There are a lot of cultures that eat things some of us would consider gross or offending. Even some in this country. Rocky Mountain Oysters for one. And who ever thought snails would make a nice delicacy. I've been told by a guy I know from Belgium that some Northern Europeans think horse is a delicacy.

I dig cats, so that first cat is really cool.

I hate lolcatz... with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

I'm gonna declare jihad on E36 M3 like that. If cats were meant to wear hats, their ears wouldn't be on top of their flippin' heads!!!

But they're really, really tasty. OMG are they tasty. :(

I know because my mother's Filipino, and we spent the summer before my fifth birthday with her family in Porac, Pompanga. At some point in the trip, I had monkey. And I felt so bad because it tasted so good!

I was terrified as a kid, because I figured that if I tasted as good as a monkey, I'd get eaten, too. :D

Yeah the spaniards especially are known to enjoy horse. I've heard it's delicious, and I'd be totally down to try some. Too bad our country has that ridiculous anti-horse-slaughtering law, so now all our dying horses are thrown into trains to be brought across the Canadian or Mexican border to be slaughtered, or they just end up starving to death here.

Heck, my family regularly catches and eats Snapping Turtle. I won't eat anything I personally have as a pet, but that's about it.
