Steve Harris' bass solo that underlies the guitar solo on the song Wasted Years. Skip to 2:55, or just to the whole song because it's amazing.

Time is Tight - Booker T. & the MG's.

Not the best but I don't get tired of hearing it: http://youtu.be/LlnmNkMivHc
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
The whole thing is great but 3.04 for the riff if you are impatient https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcawnRIyeok

You're listening to the wrong Fleetwood Mac: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE4HGlmtOcg&feature=kp

Ever see Primus live? They should just call it the Les Claypool Bass Clinic. That boy's not from this planet.
In reply to Beer Baron:
Couldn't agree more. "Duck" Dunn is great. The MGs could, could in fact, turn goat piss into gasoline.

Primus, Sausage, Oysterhead, Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, Bucket of Bernie Brains. I've seen him once or twice. Hell I even saw "The Electric Apricot: the Quest for Festaroo" in the theater.

Beat me to it.
Oh geez, where to start...
Well, since I haven't seem Tim Bogert mentioned, and he was such an influence to so many who followed, here's a bit of Cactus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCBrQQlcPLw
Since I sometime hear crap about posting Billy Sheehan's shredding madness, what about some of his grooving with Niacin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocwdcw8FjvU
Or Tom Commerford from Rage Against the Machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp3kcHchD1Y
Well, that's a start anyway!
Since the Chili Peppers have already gotten much love, obvious imitator Incubus also has the kind of bass playing I like--tight, more sophisticated rhythms and a real conversation between the bass line and the other guitar work. Even if I don't love their songs, I'll listen to that. Stellar
And Tony's right, no one gallops like Steve Harris.

He is unreal with the galloping bass lines. I remember the day I tried to sit down and learn The Trooper. Up until then, I picked with the traditional two fingers. After spending hours trying to figure out how to go that fast, I watchedsome footage of him playing. The guy picks with HIS WHOLE HAND!!! That took some time to learn, but yeah, he rules.

No, no, good lord no.
Cliff, we get it, you have a bass and a wah pedal. Now go sit in the corner.

How about: Battlestar Scratchlactica!
Proof that it doesn't have to shred to be awesome: Jack White plays the bass for Beck Hansen.
And for the 'Ox' Entwhistle fans:
Ya learn something every day, be it of ever so little value:
I was going to pop in here and put up Mr. White's Seven Nation Army, then I decided to smell my shoe before putting my foot in my mouth... Research has informed me that the riff that defines that song is actually a semi-acoustic guitar, not a bass, and it's slowed down with a whammy pedal.
