Hey All,

I know we've got a bunch of cyclists on here, both Mountain and road. Would you guys be interested in putting together a run of GRM bike jerseys?

I've designed our club kits and helped coordinate the custom orders in the past, I'd be happy to work up a design and help put the order together.

This is , of course, with the permission of the editorial powers-that-be. I'm sure there's some profit margin to be had for our favorite car magazine. I'm not interested in making anything for myself here, I'd just like to do the design and have a cool GRM jersey to wear.

So , what say you Magazine Overlords?

And what say you, GRM Cyclists?

I already have a GRM jersey - I ride in cotton t-shirts, and often use the ones from the magazine But I'd be interested in more info, especially if it's a short sleeved one.

Unfortunately for us in the humid south, cotton sucks as a jersey down here !

As we await input from the people who actually could permit us to do this, I'll mention that one solid company we've dealt with in the past offers every jersey style imaginable, short sleeve, long sleeve, club cut, race cut, even wicking material Tshirt cuts for mountain biking. They let you mix-n-match on styles for an order, and they're good quality stuff.

I could use another Jersey... but timing and funds would have to work out with cost and design, so put me firmly in the maybe category.

Size large for me if the price is within reason (for me)

Yup, MTB version has my interest. But it's all up to the Powers That Be.

Well if Margie allows the bastardization of the logo they worked hard to grow, then I'm in for a long sleeve BMX version if it's available.

I remember when someone on the forum was going to make a batch of die cut vinyl stickers in a color that is not offered by our hosts. It was vetoed in the name of defending the branding and not opening the floodgates if I remember correctly. I'm seeing the same thing happening with the bike shirts, so I wouldn't lose any sleep thinking about how cool it would be to be rockin' a GRM jersey on your next group ride. Branding is a big deal for businesses, and GRM is a business.

Umm... paging Tom? Tom? Any support here?

It really shouldn't be too hard to come up with a jersey design that stays true to the logo. Something as simple as the grimacing gear-shifting dude on the front and back with the GRM logo on the sleeves would be good.

Bearing in mind, my team is in the process of buying custom, limited print jerseys right now... so I would expect a price tag of around $70 ea. Maybe a bit less. We're going through Pactimo.

Plus, how can people paying to advertise your product be a bad thing?

Roadies aren't as geeky as autocrossers--they're close, though.

Agreed on all points. As a designer I'm used to meeting a customer's guidelines on logo use and still doing something cool. Not to mention it could also have logos of the companies that support the CHallenge, or some other arrangement.

We've bought from a couple companies in the past, my favorite is Verge. Around $70 per jersey is the nomal ballpark based on order size, but it could be lower or higher.

Ugh, hate to be "the man," but one of the main ways a copyright is protected is by use, and allowing non-license-holders use of your logo/trademark is one of the best ways to lose your protections. So sorry, we really DO appreciate the sentiment, but we can't grant permission to use the logo--we don't have the lawyerin' capability just laying around to create usage agreements for one-off jersey runs, and we're not looking for a way to front an extra $1000 so 10 people can bicycle with the logo. (And yes, it sucks being the grownup.)

I understand, things are more complex in the public arena than they seem, and there's probably a good reason for it. No worries.
