haha "I <3 oversteer"

I think the M3 will be a competitor, the Mustang actually does very well at other tracks, the Pro Touring part let's me tune it but it handles very well and is surprisingly very good on tires haha Yeah I must say, at least on some of them they did, our two they did a good job and the RX7 sound...mmmm but others...like the M5 haha

I built a Mustang like yours too. From my perspective: the good: planted like a rock, understeered it's ass off The bad: understeered it's ass off. I had to e-brake it to get it around a corner. So what's up drifty? How'd you do that?

lol well, not sure what your settings are but I have mine set somewhat stiff and more toward the rear, so to speak, where it actually starts to oversteer in corners, I don't have much understeer actually, I can set it up for a corner and if it needs it, a touch of throttle....which usually ends up in a drift but that's besides the point!

That was crazy fun last night. Pretty much went as I predicted. Qualifying made NO difference in these races! The Audi would blow us away at the start only to give in to the draft within 30 seconds. The turn around did turn into a pretty wild CF in most cases, cars flying around everywhere. Running this course with full damage would be really hard!

GT: I stayed back for the start but ended up near the front after the CF at the first turn. From there it was a LOT of lead swapping we me Bael and Concealer. I was pretty pissed because I reduced my gearing a bit right before the race and was hitting the rev limiter at about 212! I was able to keep up with the other two, but had to do a lot of work to stay off the limiter. I was hitting the Kink pretty good, so I made up time there and I seemed to handle the turns well, so the top speed problem did not hurt me much. The finish was just a "he who drafts last" kind of thing, just pure luck. .002, that's close!!

One thing that made the finish hard in this race is that it is hard to see WHERE the finish is, so it is hard to time your finish.

Saloon: Didn't do so good in this one. I think I was more mentally tuned for the GT. More power and less tire didn't work well with my mindset! I was doing fine until, as noted, I WAY overcooked the kink and ended up doing a massive wall bounce. When I pulled away I was well behind Concealer and bit ahead of Mini.

I decided to slow down and let Mini catch up and do a team draft to get to Concealer. This actually worked out quite well (I was a bit worried Mini was thinking I was trying to run him off the road). We made good time, but as noted, you have to be really careful to back off before the turns and the Kink. We did catch Concealer (who was running alone) but just as we caught him Mini had dropped back (I think it was the kink). I believe I hit 237 at one point!

I dueled with Concealer for the last half lap I believe. I had a chance to get him at the last second, but as I noted, it is hard to know where the finish is, so when I saw the finish notice for Grea, I thought I was done! Argh! So I backed of and he ran away at the end... stupid... stupid.

The extra races afterwords were lots of fun. In the last one Grea did a MASSIVE draft pass on me and another car, must have been at least 40 mph faster on the last lap. But just like in Fast and Furious, "too early man, too early" we caught him with the draft and both blew by him right before the finish!

Nick probably did the best last night though. He finished last in the first race, didn't even run the second and ended up with two fully prepped cars!!

I found it was MUCH faster to go through the turns on that track way hotter than everyone else, take my chances with damage with some wild high speed drifts, and if i got damage, i was healed before anyone could catch me again.

I think i made it around the second turnaround in a few laps at over 80mph, blowing large quantities of smoke the entire way. I saved the replay, can't wait to see some of the pictures!

Hense the reason why we normally run full damage

Although I fully admit I pinballed through a turn or two, especially in Saloon. I found that, if you could do it right, early apexing the kink was much faster then the "balls to the wall... bounce" method. Doing a bit of bouncing in this race is not that big of a deal though, the real race was in the draft.

I think i only got damage twice within the two races... i made every effort to keep it clean. It was surprisingly easy to pull off a high speed drift, especially in the second "teardrop" turnaround.

I don't think i ever bounced the kink... i'm pretty sure i passed you in the kink in the saloon race because you bounced.

Well, that track is one where, if you fall back AT ALL, your done, I think Grae and I would have been in contention if we didn't fall back but i'm kind of glad we didn't catch up, we had a damn good race! I'm really not disappointed with last night's opener.

As far as the cars, hey, I like free cars! and I like both but Ben and Grizz, seriously if you want them back let me know. I made a Saloon already, as backup for my two that weren't eligible (as I found out BEFORE the race) lol Even with them gifting me the cars it didn't matter, they shouldn't have because I couldn't join later anyway >:(

After thinking about it, I decided to check my notes and it was a late model Mustang GT that understeered so bad. I found the classic Mustang and Camaro to oversteer much too quickly for my taste.

FWIW, if you hadn't done it yet, the Seasonal Nascar Events pay 1.5M credits to win, plus I won a Charger 440 and a black Taurus SHO. To be honest, I blew it @ Rome reverse more than once and only came in 4th. I was hopeing for another prize car. It still awarded over 600K credits.

I went back to HSR a little while ago to see if my problem last night was just fatigue or was the track really going to be that much of a PITA. The latter. I did better my times and the cars but with tire wear to consider, this one is going to require a gentle touch on the throttle. With my cars, I have to enter at exactly the right spot, exactly the right speed, and wait for the exact spot to gently get back on the gas. If I don't do that, I'm slow or crash. It's super hard to catch a slide here. In case you're thinking "isn't that what you have to do @ all tracks"? HSR X10.

Since the M5 has 7 speeds, I used 6th for solo top speed and 7th for draft to pass top speed. I didn't get enough drafting practice to set it properly and was bouncing off the rev. limiter like crazy when I passed the pack a couple of times. If it had been set for optimum speed there's no telling how fast it would go. It was WAY faster to pass more than one car. I wanted to check my speed but was too busy. I learned that by watching the good ole boys @ Pocono.

Can someone please tell me how to quote a PORTION of another entry where it appears in a box as if you had quoted the whole entry. I've tried every thing I can think of.

Yesterday I opened a FWD HH room and it got some response. With RS tires on the Volvo it was very quick.

This morning I tried a room for "Miatas on Steroids" It got 0 response. This afternoon I opened a room for RM VWs 400 pp. Almost everyone selected a Lupo GTI cup car. I used a New Beetle Cup car. Heavier but more hp 50/50 wt. distribution. After finally getting the handle on it I began to give the Lupos a fit. It was great fun and the room held up for over 4 hrs. when it stuck when I tried to change courses. This might sound like ho hum 400pp. Tell you what though, trying to get a win was very difficult. Purely momentum. Miss your line, tap something, or the slightest error in timeing and you loose a lot of ground very quickly. Anyway, I just wasn't in the mood to practice @ HSR and wanted to try something new. I recommend it to anyone.

Speaking of HSR, I sure hope I get to practice with some of you before next Wed. We need to see how much drafting comes into play on this track and try running alternate lines in traffic. The truth is this track is a PITA. I ran a 10 lap race solo today to see if I could do it with no damage and to check tire wear. Spun twice with no damage and as much as I hate to do it I think it will be necessary to pit in Saloon. For me anyway. If you want to practice together post when or PM me. I'll try to make it.

I used the C4 a few times during the series, I haven't really touched it since. I dunno why.

Yeah, room participation is completely random. I've made rooms that have very descriptive titles, nobody joins. A room with a stupid name, full in five minutes. Rooms in the 400s are fun, but it's really hard to find anyone doing them any more. And if you make one you generally get people asking you to up the limit. I discovered tonight that pulling power out of a Pagani Zonda C12 to get it to meet 500pp makes it a damn competitive car at that level. I got quite a few wins and was running near the front of the pack once I picked it. Nice and stable, no real issues with traction, and runs out of breath in the high 160s, just like everything else. Also good at 500, the Supra SZ-R, the Crossfire, S2000, Miata(the newest one), Ram, M3s of any stripe, and the Ruf BTR and RGT.

Depending on when I get back tomorrow I should be up for some testing, same with tuesday.

Unrelated part: This gift limit of one car per day is annoying. Mostly because it's one car per PS3, and not one car per account. I need to send back a gift ticket to friend of mine, and I agreed to send an Altezza touring car to another, but I can't because I made the mistake of sending a 1965 ticket to my other account.
