Actually it uses the ZR1, which i'm less psyched about. Might give it a shot, though.

This should get you there:

Yeah, you're right RMD it is the ZR1. The picture posted on the Corvette Challenge page looks more like the Z06.

TC and ABS will likely slow you down if you are used to running without them. Off course in panic stops ABS might help a bit, but you shouldn't get your self in those situations anyway, right?

It's actually the best way to kick the crap out of people in shuffle races online, turn off all the aids. Its pretty funny how much of a jump you can get off at the start, and how much faster you can get into turns.

Same here. What I really wanted to do was run the VW cup. I love momentum classes. I guess that's why HP always appealed to me in SCCA racing.

Air, did your game freeze last night? Mine did. After waiting for quite a while for it to resolve it's issues I turned it off and then back on. It could not connect with the PSN although it finally let me into the game off-line. This morning I turned it on and it connected with no problem but lost connection within about 40 min. I hope this isn't a problem tomorrow night.

BEWARE OF COLD TIRES!!

How many of you would like to get through T1 and L1 with no issues? Anyone??? Here's an open invitation for one and all to practice tonight. Let's do some 1 lap races to practice starts and to hopefully figure out how to find our way around this tricky track amongst the wild bunch.

Is this communism rearing it's ugly head again? No, not really. The experience we gain will aid me as much as it does you . . . oh wait, is THAT communism . . . if so, so be it.

I'll see if anyone is in their lounge around 8:00 E.S.T. If not I'll open mine.

Brad and RMD, we especially need you to bring out the Audis. The purose of this excercise is to determine what color you end up with if you mix green, yellow, blue, white, brown, and red together in the same bucket. There may be a few other colors more or less. If you guys can't make it, those of us who built 4WD cars can play that role as needed.

This one could be a bloodbath!! Grea and I did some practice laps last night and in one 2 lap race (Saloons) we were TOTALLY wrecks coming around for the finish, it was sad. I really don't know if there is a solution here. For those who may not get a lot of practice, here are some of my observations:

  • Lots of walls and a very narrow track: Not sure if it is even possible to pass here! The only hope may be the front straight, but I am not sure that is long enough and it ends in a deadly chicane. Watch out for that pit entrance, I can see someone plowing right into that!

  • SLOW corners: There are a lot of them on this track. You need to drive a lot slower then you might think in these corners. Drifting helps, but will kill your tires. When you see the gear warning flash, BRAKE, don't push it, there is wall there to remind you you are wrong.

  • Reversed course: This course is CLEARLY meant to be run in the other direction! The two half circles at the bottom of the track (below) both have very tight entrances and will slam you straight into a wall if you don't enter them VERY slow. The chicane is a bit of nightmare, you have to be very slow and the braking point is confused by the fact that the game sees the slight kink before the hairpin first and gives you that warning, just brake for that one, you do not want to get into the chicane too fast.

  • There are probably two areas on this track that can save the most lap time. The right angle turn around on the left side (below) is a braking challenge but can be taken a lot faster if a good line is followed (smooth arc all the way around). The chicane at the end of the front straight can be taken fairly quickly, but it is pretty hard to do, with other cars involved, it will get very scary.

In general, my suggestion: Get into corners slow (brake early), drive corners slow, drive very conservatively!! (let the other cars find the walls) and watch the throttle application leaving corners (lots of potential for power spins here)

I'll try to get online tonight. I'll likely miss GT tomorrow, but should be there for saloon.

What kind of times were you guys running? Just wondering how many times I'll get lapped.

I can get through the chicane pretty good, so y' all wait at the start and I'll hustle outta your way.

The first car I set up for Sal. was an RS6. I just knew that 4WD was the answer for this class. You stated early on something to the order of "don't expect that 4WD will give you extra tire life". You were right. I burned the front tires off of it quicker than the rears on the M5 even after taking most of the torque off of the front. Too heavy up front I suppose. Sure was nice to be able to just jump on the throttle coming out of the corners though. I also built an Avant just to be sure. It was just a little better than the RS6 but I could beat it's times with the M5 on every track I tested it on.

I'm really surprised that no one chose the Lexus ISF. It was faster than the M5 @ SS7, as fast @ HSR, but just a little bit slower on the tighter tracks.

That was my observation with the 4WD also... eats tires. You can claw your way around corners but it chews your ties up in the process.

I am also surprised at no Lexus. If nothing else 8 gears makes for some nice gear tuning opportunities.

Heads up guys. I don't know if it's just my server or what but I've been loosing connection badly for about 3 days. I think it's the PSN server though because when I got back on all the rooms but 3 were gone. Man I hope that doesen't happen to us tonight.

If you look at the news section when you start up you will see there are a number of maintenance times scheduled. Maybe it was one of those.

I have not had any recent issues, but I did see you get booted the other day. Of course we did have the room completely collapse last week, luckily it was before the race.

I meant to ask you if you lost connection also. Looks like the problem might be local. They had it cured for a long time.

I'm going to bring my Mom home from the nursing home in 2 weeks and will be in her home for a while. I hope to have high speed internet installed before then so I don't have to drop out of the series. This is just too much fun.
