I'm not real stoked about... any of it.

Car pack sucks besides miata. Really? THREE MORE SKYLINES? A prius?

Three more karts?

Blargh.

In other news, the X2010 challenge is beyond infuriating with a controller. Best so far is a 1:25.209. Need a 1:25 for gold. AAARRRRGGGGGGGG

I need to try that one. Haven't had a chance, yet.

I feel in love with Spa when trying out some other racing game. Great track. Cars are what they are. For $12.00, I will be buying the whole thing.

Wonder how many Stigs are going to be out there after the 18th? LOL.

Wonder if it stays that way after the download. I have read that the seasonal prizes are not longer the "triple" amount, afterwards. Will be doing the X1 challenge first. LOL.

no, you win the amount once, you get less the second and third, etc. etc. I have two of those stupid X2010's!

hahaha WOW, it's about time but really? It's still cool though to get new cars and at least an awesome track, Spa is my favorite! How about focusing on making your servers actually work properly??

the car pack ain't BAD, we don't need any more Skylines, we already have 21 and as for ANOTHER Prius.....i'm not even going to bother saying anything on that. The karts better be exciting...BUT the fact their touring car options is what I love because I love Touring Cars but for all things holy...that Challenger BETTER NOT sound like the RM Vette's....I am happy for the Chrome and Flourescent paint....Ben, I think you and I will have a freakin field day hahaha

next tuesday lol

The touring cars look like it's just more cars you can RM.

With the consecutive login bonus the X1 seasonal pays out 10 million.

Does that mean you're going to run the next series? I hope so. The ranks are getting a little thin.

I had the Spa track in an old F1 game. I recall it taking a while to work up to being able to taking some of the turns flat out. You had to do it to keep up with the AI. Pro drivers seem to really like driving that track.

The new content is a bit underwhelming to me, Spa is interesting though.

I am also a bit worried about getting nickle and dime'd for new content. At $10 buck a shot, you could double the price of you purchase pretty quickly.

I might have to skip the first race tomorrow, or get interrupted. I should not have a problem getting to the room though, so if anyone is only connected to me, it should not be a problem.

And I guess we need to decide on a ROC. Here are my thoughts:

We go with NASCAR cars at route7. This covers the NASCAR tie in and the first race at that track was great fun. We should probably bump up the laps a bit though, lets say 6 laps (with the speed that will be reached we can work through laps pretty quickly).

I was considering a full NASCAR Daytona oval race, but I did a race at Daytona online and I was not that impressed. It was OK, but unless you run a really long race that would have more then one pit stop, the pit stops will become overly critical (you loose a LOT of time pitting at Daytona).

As a follow up to the ROC, I think it would be great to do a series of Shuffle races, allowing ABS for the controller guys. Maybe use custom tracks.

Or (and?) we could do some sort of preview for the next series.

Let me know what you think.

Got to admit, that was fun doing NASCAR @ SS7. That sounds fine with me. Talk about getting a good draft . . . . . The shuffle races were fun too. I enjoyed finding out what shuffle races were.

Honestly I don't know. I know Brad usually just sprang it on everyone, but I am open for suggestions. In the past we have always done very low traction races because it increases the challenge. I would like to have at least one of the two races reflect that, the cars should be hard to drive in general. If people want to throw out suggestions we can do that.

I am thinking we should consider a CanAm type race (full race cars). Maybe some sort of race using custom tracks (maybe shuffle based). If we do a spec series, I think it needs to be with faster cars (its too hard to have close races with slow spec cars). If I was to decide right now, I would probably go with the CanAm and Shuffle series, but I am totally open.

If we do a Shuffle series we should probably allow ABS for non-wheel people (wheel people can adjust bias only) and run a number (maybe 6 or 8?) of short (2 lap maybe) races (at the same track obviously) and do a cumulative total for points. Also the shuffle would be set to max so if you did good on the early races you would end up with a lesser car latter. Practicing would be interesting since you don't know what car you will have.

I don't really have the time to do car research, or even track research, so I need to rely on you guys for that, especially if we have to generate a list of eligible cars that is not obvious.

You don't really want me to be totally in control, I am capable of some pretty silly ideas. One was to do a spec RUF Yellow Bird race on Sport tires!! Now that would be a CF, and zero fun for anyone with a controller.

Do two shuffle series, one at 500 with lambos, ferraris and the like on sports hards* and another at 300 with lupo gtis and E36 M3 on comfort hards.

Do a 1or 2 lap qualification race before the start, or run a race at the beginning of the series and then use the car you get for the entire series.

*The Yellow bird is in the list at 500.

@Grae... I should make the race tomorrow. I am on vacation, and in between servicing the furnances on the house, getting tires and brakes on my truck and doing some work in the garage, I can probably fit in a race or two... again on no practice.

For ROC... what about X2010s at Suzuka, all aids on? That would be a fast race and I have no idea who would win in those cars.

For the next series, what about a 2-make "versus" series? Ferrari vs Lambo; ZR1 vs GT-R; Evo vs STI? It's kinda spec, it's kinda open, it should be a quick series.

Anyone watch the new Opening movie?

I happened to notice a Renault Megane with numbers and a decidedly racecar look to it, so maybe they've already got the next batch of DLC going.

Although one thing I did notice, they showed big races of RM cars(challengers in the dirt, Golfs at Tokyo I think), why does nobody do that? I don't think I've ever seen one make race rooms aside from our z06 series.

Consecutive day log in bonus. My pay out was 8.5 mil. Each consecutive day you log in, you get an increased percentage of the winnings, money and experience pts. I am at 160%.

Had some fun shuffle races with Bael, last night. F40, on sport hards at the 'Ring was a blast. Gotta love a car you only get into 4th twice, while on the 'Ring. LOL. Bael must have got kicked, though.

I have had an interesting issue lately. While in an online room, the whole thing will freeze. Can't even use the PS button to exit game, have to turn PS3 off entirely. Happened night before last, and then twice yesterday.

That happens to me every once in a while, but it's mostly locking up on load screens and having to restart the PS3 every time I quit the games. Nothing wrong with the disc, and it's the only game I have that does it, so I dunno why it happens.

I've had the screen freeze issue several times too. I think it's always when I'm in someone's room and they switch tracks.

I got a first place trophy yesterday that paid 1.7M. It was in the 90's Jap. production car time trial. That's the fastest I ever earned that much.

Too bad you can't sell uniforms, helmets, horns and paint by the pound.

I tried a few laps at Trial Mt. this morning. That's a track that can catch you out in so many places with not much warning. It's funny how on the edge of control I feel during a lap but then watch the replay and it actually looks pretty good. My GT especially wants to self steer at bad times. I'm pretty sure it's because the suspension is unloading and reloading when it lands causing the steering to bite. It's really hard to confidently predict when i't going to happen. It would take a lot more practice than I have time for.

I hope we have a good turn out tonight and also that everyone has fun and doesn't get booted or "exploded" as Air says.

Trial Mountain Reverse tonight. I may have to drop out at some point, but I will be there. I have very little practice so it might get interesting.

It's actually a pretty interesting track, maybe better in reverse. A couple of areas of interest here:

Turn 11, nice bump right before the turn, makes braking interesting. End of Turn 9, have to be careful not to clip the tunnel entrance on the inside. Turn 4, again a jump before the turn, makes taking this corner a bit exciting. Turn 2 is totally blind until you are right on it, but you better get it right or you will end up in the wall a turn 1.

Maybe we should try a quick test of the Red Bull cars at Rt 7 after the race. I would be interested to see how much draft there is. I am suspicious the massive downforce might make the corners too easy though. But heck, if it's fun, it's fun. Everyone should have one of these cars now right?

Warning: Very large update.

Not sure when this started (I haven't been on in a few days) but it is a BIG file 1.1 Gig from what I can see! Took me about 10 min on a very fast connection.

  • Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.
  • User control of the weather change feature.
  • Settings sheet which allows you to save multiple car settings.
  • New Spec 2.0 opening movie.
  • Improved UI response and usability.
  • Replay forward/rewind.
  • Mid-race save feature for endurance races.
  • Expanded online lounge features (narrowing down car types, shuffle races…).
  • Expanded Photo Travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar).
  • Added “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel.
  • Added 11 new 2011 NASCAR models.
  • Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport (the car in which Kazunori contested the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours).
  • Improved physics and artificial intelligence.
  • Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel.

Some good updates though. Replay forward / reverse, Much better!. Saved setting, nice! Better physics... uh oh, we will see. Better online option, very much needed!

Some of the new race setting are pretty cool. You can set required Car Type, the categories are a bit arbitrary (muscle cars, K cars, Le Mans cars) but a neat idea. You can set required car configuration (FR, FF, MR etc.) which is neat. You can set the cars to No Mods Allowed... interesting. Most interesting you can set the Shuffle PP setting! This could make for some interesting Shuffle action.

Proposal: We do a Shuffle series with a climbing PP setting. E.g. first race is say 100 ppt, last race is say 800 ppt. Could get interesting.

Damn you guys and your fast connections. It took me an hour to dl, but I got it when it first came out, so there were a ton of people pulling it down.

The shuffle thing doesn't work like that, FYI. It goes from 300 to 500, 500 is supercars on sports hards, 300 is fwds and no power rwds on comfort hards.

I like the effort they took on the simplified interior view, when you look behind you the 49 Beetle has a split rear window, and the Ram has sliding rear glass. The open top cars have sorta detailed interiors, the Prowler is essentially a premium car now, because it's the only one with functioning gauges.

E: Oh brad, from what I've seen, nobody has practiced for this race, so you've got a chance.
