So, next week then.

Ran some shuffles at mt ashole, good fun.

Here is what happens there when 9 people are racing shuffles on that track: Lap one Nothing else really happened on lap one. Lap Two: I'm in the Skyline, a friend is in the 22B. Again, nothing really happened on lap two. Lap Three: It all went to E36 M3. We MAY have gotten a bit overly exuberant near then end.

Since the damage was off I finally found out that going balls out over th jump was the fast way through there. Just be sure the car hits the invisible barrier flat sided so you don't get turned around.

I thought it was funny seeing the huge CF of cars with Spy right in the middle of them backing up the hill. All in all that was fun tonight.

Grizz, you and Spy were 'smokin' me at his track. I just couldn't catch up.

Re: shuffle races.

I can't say that I understand how we'd run a shuffle race series. I would assume that each night would have an overall P1>P? finishing order just like we do with the other series. So how many races do you run and for how many laps to get to that finishing order? The object seems to be able to overcome having a lesser car to out drive others with better cars in order to achieve an overall P1. It actually seems that well timed sandbagging could become a part of your strategy.

So who can educate us (or me anyway) on how this would work for a series? I didn't think I'd really like shuffle races until I did some. Last night was actually extra fun because you could throw caution to the wind and use bank shots off the walls to gain an advantage. It didn't take me long to get into the rolling pile-ups and do my share of jostling. Some times more than my share, eh Air? Like I said, "I just couldn't help myself". Your car was so much faster than mine in the straights . . . so what's a person supposed to do . . . ? For those who didn't participate, I'm referring to my dirty move of pinching him against the guardrail right at the finish line to keep him from passing me. Nasty!

Shuffle races are a RIOT, especially on a track like that.

I think i have replay of the FWD MRS. I also have replay of me literally jumping from 6th place to 3rd place. I'm reasonably sure my car was every bit of 40 feet in the air.

When I saw how far you landed in front of me I decided to go airborne the next lap. It works great . . . with the damage turned off. It's quite funny to see the pics. Grizz posted of all the cars beat all to hell but unfazed by it.

LOL, FWD MRS. Once I spun around and saw all of you coming, I was like, "Screw this!" Just nailed reverse and used my mirrors. Was trying to J-turn out of it on the straight, but got hit. LOL.

did you guys do the races at all? or do shuffle races?

Well, I must say, after playing it last night and now, I must say...it feels like a whole new game, love the updates and the new intro movie is so much cooler! I'm actually enjoying online more, it seems like they addressed it somewhat. Can't wait for Spa and the new RM options.

I love how you can have spec races and more shuffle options, which I love racing. LOVE the login extra money thing too I now got 3 X2010's, sold the 2 though

About last night's scheduled race @ Trial Mr. Rev. By 9:10 only Air, Hunter, and I were in the room. After discussing it we all agreed to push the event to next week. The thing is, Air had to take off in the middle of the event to take care of some business related matter and that would have left only Hunter and I. There was no point at all in running a 20 lap two car event with the outcome totally not in doubt anyway. Hopefully, more of us will have an opportunity to run by next week. It remains to be seen if I can run or not because the internet at my Mom's house may not be fast enough.

Air, since the shuffle race championship idea came from you, how about explaining how it would all work. I've only done it twice now but am excited about the idea.

BTW, even though my suggestion of using touring cars and tuner/concept cars for a dual series got no real response, 3 of us like the idea of touring cars: Grizz, Nick, and Grea., that's 3. If it turns out that I can continue to race from my Mom's house I'll volunteer to do the prep. work. I noticed, however, that touring cars is listed as an online spec. class, so it may not take much to accomplish the organizing.

Shuffle Series: The way I see it (and we may need to do some experimenting of course) we pick a bunch of tracks, (probably including custom tracks just for the heck of it).

On race night we set up the room to run a 2-4 lap (depending on track) race with a 5 min break until the next race (give some practice time). Then we run 6-10 races (depending on the track). The length and number of races need to be figured to do about 30-40 min of racing.

The part that will be a bit of a pain is tracking the finishing order of each sub-race. We then combine the total for an average overall score.

We could put more points on the last race, but that would result in a "how slow can I go" race for the second to last race.

Lots of interesting possibilities though. As I mentioned before, we could even regenerate the track each race!

  1. I suggest that we each clear up our finishing position and it be recorded by you before any BS sessions or practice begins. That was one of my cosiderations. It would take a little time to do that part. If anyone else hosts the room they can report the results to you for posting. It seems that the results could end up in a decimal number but nothing wrong with that. That alone should eliminate the need for a tie breaker.

  2. That MAY eliminate the sandbagging I referred to but not necessarily. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

  3. So you can regenerate the track within the same room? Hmmm., there's another new one on me. I finally found out where "course creator" is located and you have to exit the game to get to it. Or at least you used to have to. If I understand you correctly, you're saying that you alter the existing course, not change to another existing course. If that's the case, it sure could be frustrating trying to learn a new track with no DL, TC, or ABS in 5 min. Hopefully at least the damage would be min., if at all, as well as penalties.

This is just a mild rant so don't read it if you're looking for game content.

Everyone seems to know how to post pictures but me. I know I've been told how to do it twice but I'm still too ignorant to figure it out. The only available ports I see to connect anything to the PS other than the connection to the TV, power, and the controller/s is a port labled HDMI and one labled digital out. I went to the biggest local Walmart in an nearby town knowing that the electronics dept. workers were all rather young and fairly intelligent looking, and I also went to a Best Buy. In each store I asked for the most knowledgeable person on the subject of the PS to help me find the device needed to download pictures from the PS and then upload them to my computer. No one at either store had a clue. I think all of them were gamers but they couldn't help me. I've checked on-line, with you-tube and the language and methods were over my head. I'm determined that one of these days I'll find a local person that can show me first hand how to do this.

I also see what appears to be a removeable plate on the lower right corner on the front of the console that MAY have port connections under it but it doesen't want to come off and I don't want to break it.

I finally found my PS manual and hopefully, I'll get a chance to read it soon. Maybe the secret is in there.

I've got a degree in Industrial Tech. I worked almost my whole life doing technical work. However, I have almost NO computer instict at all. I've watched computer geeks "repair" my bus. computers right in front of my eyes and am just amazed that they accomplished the repair by just using the keyboard. They're like magicians to me. From my observations everyone that's born on this planet truly arrives with x-abilities. I missed the computer line completely. One thing I keep remembering though is an uncle learned computer programming after he retired as the CEO of a major corp. Brain cells, don't fail me now.

LOL!!!

You need a USB thumb drive. There's USB ports on your PS3, where you would plug in a keyboard or a mouse. (Yes, you can do that.)

As for getting the pictures onto the USB drive, i think someone else will have to explain that, i haven't done it yet, but i can at least tell you what you need to buy.

Pictures in Game:

  • Save replay on results screen after race

  • View replay in your Replay Theater (on the main screen)

  • Pause replay and click photo button, take photos, make SURE to click save after you take the picture.

  • Go to Pictures (on main screen)

  • Select pictures and and export them to XMB menu (or something like that). The pictures will now be in the Pictures menu on the main PS screen.

  • Put USB thumb drive in PS (once you find the ports).

  • Go to Pictures menu in the PS menus. I believe you need to click Triangle or something to get the menu and select Export Multiple (or something). Once you select them and say OK, the pics will go to the Thumb drive. Select Change Name and Copy (or something like that) so that the names will be different.

  • Put USB drive in computer, move pics from there, upload to Photobucket (or whatever online site you want to use). Copy links from there and post them here (links must be from another website).

I usually re-size the image to about 50%, but the place you upload to should be able to do that on the site if needed.

Hope that helps (you probably already know some of that)

I do what Brad was doing. Just take a picture of the results screen and deal with it later.

...So you can regenerate the track within the same room?...

I remember seeing that on the menu, but I have never tried it. Experimentation needed. I would hate to see what A-Hole Mountain could result in when regenerated.

Yes, stay on the same course. Of course your car is new each time, if you did really badly, you get a Supra! , but then of course you will get rammed into the wall near the finish. You should be able to practice the course ahead of time, you just won't know what car.

Even if we re-generated the track, it would be kind of like an AutoX, learn as you go. Just a way to add to the challenge / mayhem.

Regarding ABS and damage: I THINK we can go with allowing ABS for controller people and allowing brake bias adjustment for wheel people (all would be on an honor system of course). We might want to do some testing on that. For damage, if we do A-hole mountain, we CAN'T run full damage. On regular tracks, not so bad. There will be no pit stops which opens up some of the track selections. Since the races are so short, I think we can do min Damage and possibly none on really crazy tracks (when the a-hole track designer puts a huge jump in the middle of it for example ).
