Being on this forum makes me laugh when I use the hair dryers in public washrooms from Berkeley, Illinois.
I was going to show a shop newbie today how to use our plastic banding machine and I was going to suggest he not get his "hootus" caught as it might hurt.
Does GRM influence your thoughts or speech?

berkeley. <- yes I say this in my head, translated.
I have said don't get your hootus caught in that at work.
One of my friends lives on Berkeley Avenue...I always smile when I turn onto his street.

Every time I see Berkeley, I laugh.
I have actually uttered "E36 M3".
I have said, "Don't be a Bob Costas."
"Don't get that on your hootus." has passed my lips on more than one occasion.
I use "canoe" in regular speech, and my non-GRM friends understand
I've had to explain to my girlfriend and bandmates after saying "berkeley" in response to something going awry...
I have shouted "berk" after making a finger leak.
Every time I see Bob Costas (the person) on Sunday night football, I yell out "why you gotta be such a Bob Costas?" and my wife laughs because she knows what it means.
I saw a flounder at an aquarium while I was in FL and giggled.
Every time I see Berkeley I translate it in my head and stifle a laugh.
I laughed because there is a Berkeley Springs, WV an hour from Summit Point.
I don't automatically speak the GRM dialect yet. But Understand it.
My 4 brothers and I have our own dialect.. We understand it and so do all of our friends. Those friends at least when around us use our dialect. Although my oldest brother (he went away to college when I was 10 and has never lived at home since) uses an old, outdated version. The rest of us understand it, but rarely use it unless around him. My friends do understand it too but a few things had to be explained.
I was reading an article about E36 M3s away from GRM. I don't read E36 M3 as "E36 M3." I read it as, well, $_h_i_t. So the article turns into a hilarious Mad Lib, at least in my head.
Every post so far in this thread rings true for me; i.e. I also translate the filter words in my head, and sometimes use them verbally without thinking. The biggest change, though, is a bit more subtle.....every time I look at the retail cost of an aftermarket part, I think "A $20xx challenge participant could have made that for less than $50 bucks"
Watching last Sunday's football game, Bob Costas came out on the field to spew some crap. I sighed, and SWMBO asked me what's wrong, and I had to explain the GRM connection.
I use the filter words all the time in everyday conversation now.
It's great over the radio at work, because the only person there who gets it is one of my supervisors. I'll call for an electrician, saying something like "station 18, robot 5 bolt-shooter just took an e36m3".
The ectrician looks at me like I'm nuts, and my supervisor drives by on his little electric cart shaking his head and laughing.

If Bob Costas towed a canoe to Berkeley with an E36 M3, I think GRM minds would collectively explode.

that has always meant what it means on this board... it's the only special GRM word that i knew the meaning of the first time i saw it on here...
Today, as a matter of fact. . .
Made a stupid mistake while working on the equipment I repair. Placed palm to forehead and audibly muttered to myself, "berk me".

When I read the word sh*t it comes into my head as E36 M3. I say berk, canoe, and bob costas all the time.

Died.
I wonder if there is such a condition as Grassroot's Turrets??
Here's another way that GRM has influenced my thinking: after reading SVreX's idea in the tips and tricks thread I put a plastic cart on my Christmas list.
