The banana. Some artist taped a banana to a wall a few weeks ago, and it sold for 120k. This is the artists proof of that banana, apparently- meaning the one on the wall was technically a print?

I dropped my box off at the post office, and came home to find one of my own! Sorry I was late, but check out this cool stuff!!

always great to open up to some magazines.

practical, I love it.

How did you know I have to rewire my trailer every time I use it?

Perfect for the man cave.

Holy cow, that's a whole spool of speaker wire! From RadioShack, which used to be my favorite store. #memories

These seem to be some kind of headlight replacements, probably those bright blue bulbs. I think they will look great in the minivan.

These are definitely replacement headlights which Will find their way into something I'm sure.

A coolant hose of some sort, I'm guessing for a 1978 Chrysler Córdoba.

and a thermostat complete with housing. I've never seen one like this, I'm going to look it up and buy whatever car it goes to.

Who doesn't like spark plugs? Don't fit something I have. Probably.

actual, useful stuff. Even though my hardware drawers put Home Depot to shame, there's always room for more.

it's an iPhone powered fan! My phone is AT&T so I hope it works.

now I can answer the question I always get, "what day did that team with no name play last year?"

some awesome hot wheels that my son has already call dibs on. He's not getting the my French rally car!

For my next flight!

this looks like a male headlight connector.

I saved this one for last because it is so freaky. These are male headlight plugs. Over the Christmas break, I had to replace the windshield fluid pumps in my daughters jeep Cherokee. The OEM unit uses a headlight plug for the front pump and a different plug for the rear pump. The replacement pumps only come with the female headlight plug. I searched and searched for a female plug to wire into the jeep, I could not find one anywhere. My secret Santa box had two!!! Thank you so much, happy holidays, happy new year, and thanks for playing!!!

I'm about 90% sure I know who sent this. There are some very interesting tells here.

Glad you liked it! I figured the multitool would be useful on the job. The trash can also doubles as a koozie. That's a trade show giveaway from the can company.

A lot of that was admittedly random E36 M3 that was laying around my shop. The hrlead unit worked when I pulled it out of...the F250 maybe? I dont remember.

The banana was totally a riff on the big media splash that guy got, but the story came and went so fast that it's not really funny now. Which means I'm stuck with a whole bag of plastic bananas.

Anyway, enjoy!

Spark plugs and coolant hose were for a 2004 v6 mazda 6

Thermostat was bought for an 04 BMW 325xit

Hid bulbs are h1/h3 and either 3k (yellow) or 5-6k (bluish white)

Led bulbs are 9006(?) and 3k (yellow)

Headlight connectors are various extras from all the retrofits I've done over the years

My turn!

A box with a familiar name arrived. Looks promising on opening.

We have: stickers ranging from skiing to Harley Davidson

A brake rotor for an R1(?), A copart koozie, a crc phone holder thing, a hook (I found the second later), a 2012 Bruins calendar, and a flag.

A trouble light, a light bar, enough cold weather aluminum tape to build myself an igloo, an idler pulley, a car alarm?, A piece of.....something. Driveshaft maybe? And a jar of Vegemite. With a single, tiny taste missing. It smells like an autoclave.

Thanks Robbie! I'm relieved you didn't send me a box full of whatever parts you had to replace on my old Miata.

Mine is going out tomorrow! Here's hoping this is enough gorilla tape.

I got a fancy gray box hand delivered to me today from all the berkeleys way out in Hungary!!

Let's open her up shall we?

Hmm.. A beer recipe I can't read, some really cool and expensive looking grocery ads, and a blinker. Neat.

Turns out that is NOT red cocaine. My nose hurts. That is some kind of booze though, and an A pillar gauge holder

A roach clip on a rope and a lanyard, a Mann Filter, keys to i don't even know what, More boozes, some Milspec electrical tape, a worn out grinder wheel, a pewter 68 Shelby 350 (damn nice)

Official Socialist Brigade pins. High School me would have Loved those. Adult me still kinda does.

All the Boozes. Sneaky Sneaky, I didn't think they could get through customs. I might have to step down off the wagon again to try these out.

2 very painful tubes of toothpaste, and some liquid paprika?

Big Big THANK YOU to Bill for sending this out and again for setting this whole thing up. I kinda feel bad about my package that went his way now, as I had it already taped up before I got my person. That'll learn me.

My package is still sitting in customs. Not sure if it needs VAT or if they're just slow on the Hungary side because it cleared customs once already.

Yay!  It arrived (and in much better shape than I was expecting!)!  Ok long post alert:

First things first, I would definitely NOT get off the wagon for the booze I put in that box laugh.  Allow me to explain:

The little bottles are the national chemical concoction known as "palinka" (paul-ink-ah).  The "Agyas Meggy" (aged cherry) should be the smoother fo the two where as the "Barack" (not Obama, but Peach) is going to be a bit rougher.  Share them with your friends and tell them all about this great stuff called "hungarian palinka" and watch them try to hide their distaste while they tell you how good they think it is wink

The bigger bottle is "Unicum".  There are generally two flavours of Unicum sold.  The "Zwack" is like Jagermeister but waaaaaay worse (and bitter).  They use it here as a medicine to cure an upset stomach, the way we use whiskey to cure a sore throat.  The stuff I sent you is the "Next" and that's generally accepted as "the girls' unicum".  I've had cashiers refuse to sell me this stuff before laugh.  Anyhoo, it's the only potable "Unicum" and even then only barely so cheeky

The can of beer is the Hungarian equivalent of budweiser.  Sold everywhere, and always on tap.  Tastes exactly like you'd expect of a lager.

Alright, on to the good stuff!  Paprika!

The big bag is real deal farm smoked paprika.  I got a paprika dealer at the local farmers market, and he's always got the goods.  If you're looking for a recipe, start here:

Real deal chicken paprika (Csirke Paprikas)
Cook about 5 chicken thighs (bone in).  I usually boil them so they're soft.  Peel from the bone and put in sauce (below) and simmer.

Sauce:
One small thing of sour cream
one can of cream of chicken
a bit of garlic
About 1/8 cup of that there paprika (start at 4tbsp and work your way up.  dont be shy)
salt and pepper to taste.
Serve over cooked egg noodles.

Good stuff

The tube of Gulyas krem is an easy way of me serving you some real deal Hungarian Gulyas (goo-ya-sh).  Here's how:

1lb of beef cubes in a gallon of water until they're cooked through (you can brown them first if you prefer)
add the full tube of gulyas krem and half a tube of the red paprika toothpaste (piros arany translates to "red gold").
Add in a chopped onion, about 5 chopped spuds, 4 sliced carrots, and 2 sliced parsnips and cook em down till they're soft.  You can add beans, but you'll have to soak em overnight (bab gulyas).  Salt pepper and garlic to taste.

Serve like a stew.  If you like it spicy open that jar of Eros Pista and add in tad.  Speaking of that jar, this stuff goes good in just about anything soupy.  It's got a nice spice to it that I find just about right (and I dont like spicy things very often).

The socialist pins are exactly what they look like.   Cold war ere propaganda stuff targeted for kids and young adults.  A buddy from work had those from "back in the day".  The pewter Shelby was part of my grandfather's collection.  He had a HUGE collection of these things, and I ended up with more than just a handful of them.  The blinky light was from my 4-Runner's recent technical inspection.  If you have a trailer hitch, you need this blinky light to be installed with the trailer lights plug so you know your trailers blinkers are working.  I bought it because the inspector failed me for not having one, only to discover one was installed already (the one time I get a blind inspector, I still fail).

The Nascar book and the lanyard are both regifts from previous years.  Our very own Mr. Wallens sent me the book, and DuctTape&Bondo sent me the lanyard (as well as a few others) many years back.  I was running low on automotive stuff to add because of our recent move so I tossed in a dead cutoff wheel from some exhaust work on my Toyota, the old pillar gauge pod from my Auto-X RX-7,  an unused oil filter from Mrs. Hungary's old Merc E350, and a spark plug from my RX8 for giggles.

Which brings us to the orange "F4" tape:  It sounds like you might be familiar with it, but if not here goes.  As you unravel it you'll notice there's a side with a green stripe.  When you apply this stuff the green stripe faces up.  Wrap it over wires, coolant hoses, gunshot wounds, or just about ANYTHING, with a 50% overlap using that green stripe for reference.  Zip tie the end and this stuff is bullet proof.  Works good to cover leaks, bare wires, chaff protection, and is impervious to most blunt and sharp objects.  Electrically insulated and rated for very high temp areas too!  It's like duct tape if duct tape got angry and turned green.

The beer recipe I had JUST finished minutes before I packed up the box and sent it, so I tossed that in for giggles.

And I have no idea what the keys go to.  They're from the garage of my current rental house, and they dont fit a THING cheeky

Cheers buddy, and I hope you enjoy!

Woohoo!! I almost almost almost sent you the rx8 shifter knob that came with your Miata, but it works way too well for me as the lock release knob on my lift (same threads and everything, just screws on).

The chunk of metal is just a slice of a 4 inch pipe. We were using it to reengineer the front suspension mounting points on the AMC challenge car. That piece was cut wrong. And yes, the Vegemite is regifted. I tried it, and did not likely. I don't expect you to try it.

I got my box on Thursday and opened it nearly immediately, but I have been slack in posting. Cadman5 - you are AWESOME! Thank you!

Apparently my mail carriers were not up to the challenge of destroying this box.

A license plate and some gaskets, good start!

Not sure if this is an exotic spice rub for pot roast or just sawdust....

Don't worry guys, I have the entire day of music covered for the radwood class at the challenge car show. (I actually think I have a tape deck in my 1987 jag, so I'll have to try these out!!)

I think this says ballast but I'm not sure they're resistors. Might be useful for my annual summer fishing trip.

Who's down with PPE?

And light!!!

i didn't even know this existed. I will absolutely try to make something with this.

I've located the source of the rattle.

none are even broken!

odds and ends including a sweet foldable pliers, working hf flashlight (only had to smack it once for it to turn on), seat belt cinch, nail clipper knife, 4wd socket tool, and a really cool container for small parts filled with washers. I will probably use that in my track support box to hold hardware during repairs.

also zip ties in both sizes.

possibly the coolest whitworth spanner I now own.

ill bet with a little lube that guy will be quite useful.

wait, that's not the bottom of the box!

holy crap

a freaking decal set from a Nascar series. Totally cool.

Thanks CADMAN5 - this is incredible!

Opening up the box the first thing I see is a condom and a bottle of hand sanitizer.  There are also some misfit toys racing wartburg sticker, stencils, more summit racing stuff, a PRI bag and a GRM koozie

.

One layer down I see an old iphone charging cable sitting in there.

The GRM koozie was hiding the Fury.

If I ever need a flowchart for my templating I now have one.

I also have a technical pen (For flowcharting?)

A pretty necklace.

a battery charger and batteries.

Some sort of presidential coins.

A pair of race car walkie talkies.
