Package delivered, not opened. Someone in Misery needs to check their porch!

It wasn't shown in the unpacking pics, but I built a wooden box the exact dimensions of the inside of a flat rate box to ensure mine traveled safely. I thought about an internal steel roll cage but it was more fun to play with the laser. It was funny, a cardboard box that felt solid in your hands.

You guys who are filling the box with 30+ lbs worth of stuff, that's gotta take some reinforcements!

I have mine to go out today on lunch to someone lucky (or unlucky?) in Indiana! I wrapped the box in Gorilla tape to help strengthen the body at the corners, I'll get the overall weight after lunch!

Got a package yesterday with a load of goodies. The Go Pro chest strap is particularly awesome since I was about to buy one.

So I just realized I never explained anything. First of all, I hope the sticker on top didn't offend, I thought it was funny, definitely wasn't personal.

The coconut macaroons were my first attempt. The GM plaque and antique carbon receipt book came with the new house. And finally the go pro stuff I was hoping might come in handy for someone, I wound up with several sets from buying cheap cameras.

No offence it was a pretty funny thing to be on top. The coconut macaroons were good.

You guys are awesome, I love it!

This year we had 72 participants and so far we've seen 21 gifts in the thread.  Put another way, we're not even a third of the way done yet devil

Good times, good times, good times.

I was chasitised by the Post Office for my use of duct tape.  I was told that it was "too strong" for the box.  He proceeded to put packing tape on top of the duct tape... I guess to weaken it?

I got flat out denied by our main post office for using duct tape on my box last year stating that its a fire hazard.  I reused the box I got last year and got denied again even though it got shipped to me with duct tape on it.  We have a seperate location called the annex and they didn't care if it had duct tape on it.  So who knows.

Y'all and y'all's duct tape.....

Ok, I received this two days ago, but work's been nuts, so here is my belated haul:

First up, microfiber towels (I often use these as rags- I know, sacrilege), a 2 pack of neat flashlights, a funnel thingy (what is the purpose of the thing inside? I'm dumb,) a rain poncho, a seriously nice and unused ratchet strap, and a... It says "air in" and "vent". I don't know, but I like it. I have an idea of what to do with it.

-

So, then this stuff: Nice insulated tumbler, A FREAKIN' (UNOPENED) SOCKET SET!!! ( Dude, I really needed this. This set has tiny metric sizes. I use them on my Honda bikes), Miracle Wax, chamois and applicator pad. I'm gonna be lookin' sharp! Finally, the Steel Stick. I love this stuff, and I'm out of it. Win-win for me!

Next up is this: A cool tag which is going up on the wall, some candy (which my wife inhaled after this picture was taken.) The ever appreciated 10mm (now available in Impact-rated!), a tiny sharp knife, a blue plastic key chain fob, a spine-hip key chain thingy (my wife is currently having spine issues, so she grabbed this), a cool Hot Wheels, and, oh... a napkin? It was just in with everything else. Is it special? Donno.

And now, the grand finale, (my favorite) - Stickers!!! I love stickers, and these are really cool because they are regional, not worldwide. So cool!

Remember boys and girls, it's never too early to start your junk box for next year!

Thanks GRM friend! This was a really cool box!

My day gets better every time someone posts up their loot. I look forward to mine but know, due to logistics, it will be a while.

Recent posts make me worry about my tape job though...

There was a napkin in there???  I have no idea how it got in, seriously.  I packed it on the kitchen counter, so I gues that is the answer.  Glad you like it.  This is my first year, I didn't really know what I was doing.  I have some great ideas for next year.  I lost the tracking info, so I was starting to freakout that it was under the seat of a mail truck.  Glad you like the regional stickers.  I know what to look for for next year.

My wife is mortified that there was a napkin in the box.  This gives me an idea for next year:  What embarrassing thing can we slip into the box?

I'm 100% serious. This little paper napkin. I figured it somehow ended up in there by accident.

Maybe this is the start of a new GRM tradition!

Thanks again!

Yep the Kia was intentional, have never been able to identify my recipient in the past but had just read a post by you when the email with details came in, and figured,  let's see if this is the same Bob!  Sure enough, yep.

The unidentified tools are from a lot i bought a few years ago and the guy clearly did something in the cabling or telecomm industry.  I think one is a coax terminator and the cutters seem suited to cutting wire flush with a hole it passes thru, though i can't imagine why you'd need to do that really.

The elbow (and F connector inside) are E46 BMW parts.  Brand new.  My cali/ny emissions car didn't have that connector, and i think a friend gave me the extra elbow after I'd already bought one.

'The masterpiece.'  ha!

Let's just recap the box *traditions". It's my second year, and I feel my box improved greatly, but for next year here's what I have down as traditions:

  • Hot wheels - obviously
  • Stickers - they don't take up much space
  • Heavy = better
  • Inappropriate amounts of Duct tape - now just to make it fun getting it in the USPS system
  • A local food/snack (or if you don't happen to have that any ol' peanut butter crackers, etc.)
  • License plates (typically expired and no longer in use... You know but bonus points for current ones)
  • Legacy items - notable items that spend a year with the victim then will be regifted
  • Box art - color like you're in 3rd grade or to the best of your ability
  • Rattle OK!

Did I miss any?

I am not your tormentor, but I can answer this. That funnel is part of a four-piece set that harbor freight sells. It includes the size everyone needs and three others. That plastic piece is just the sprue that holds all four together.

There is a regifting theme, and a couple of items have been in circulation for a while. Write your name and year on the napkin and send it along next year!
