My box arrived today, which I guess means I need to stop slacking and get my outgoing package in the mail....

Holy crap! I got TONS of stuff! No screenname was attached, and it wouldn't be fair to cheat and look up the address in our system. But somebody named Bill from PA sent this box. Thanks Bill!

First up, a VIP pass from Mecum:

Followed by a 3D-printed flexible octopus with middle finger arms. I dub thee "berkeleyofftopus".

Matchbox cars, as well as some local landmarks to park them next to:

DVDs!!!

Ahhhh, I've reached the random car parts portion of the box. These look like K-series coil packs to me? EDIT: These are VW, still helpful for the VWs in the fleet!

And you can never have too many battery ground straps, GoPro mounts, or trailer harness extenders. Thanks!

There was also a pack of screwdrivers in the box:

COOKIES!!!!

And, of course, stickers:

Also a photo showing a car's best or worst moment ever, depending on your perspective/financial involvement in it:

Then I struck a vein of magazines in the box:

Hot Rod from the glory days! Remember how thick it used to be?

The sender must live in Amish country:

And finally, a Jeep visor to keep the sun out of my eyes next time I'm waiting for the tow truck in a FCA product. cheeky

Great box!! Thanks so much for sending it my way!

In reply to Tom Suddard :

Name and address were fake, didn't want to make it to easy, but the town was real.

Oatmeal Chocolate chip, molasses, coconut macaroons, and those are cookie butter no bakes. I've stopped sending peanut butter containing cookies just to be allergy proof.

A few regifts from last year, I don't speak VW, so hopefully those will work out for you. Then stuff I scored on the honeymoon just to add a little weirdness wherever the box wound up.

Glad you enjoyed it, this year was a little light on projects for me, so I tried to make up for it with strangeness.

I think that Subaru was from one of nonacks rally threads this summer. I printed it out to hang in the garage because I thought it was a great shot, and for me anyway, it's motivational.

My package arrived last Monday, I was down w the flu, so I'm late posttotally cool stash, not sure how he knew I was from Maine, but maple syrup and the license plates were a great touch.  Superfast, awesome movie, gloves I can always use.  Jeggs and sunmit stickers!  A magnet farting donkey, could this be a statement about Mainers? Love the pliers and I may use the arp window net parts.  I'll put the water pump up on the garage wall. The imperial stout might stay on the wall as well!  My wife thought the wrench earrings were cute, but we'll see if she wears them.  The blipshift sticker is a huge hit w my son, but he won't get it. Love love the bungee and air fresheners.  I used to subscribe to muscle machines, so it's great to have a blast from the past

Part two:  Toonces is in on this one.  Hot Wheels! Yeah baby, vintage, too! Blow off valve, another hit with my son. More stickers, you can't see it's magna flow and I forgot to mention the radwood sticker in the last picture.Recharger kit, will come in handy, but I'm not sure about the carbon fiber caps. Pepper sauce! New car air freshener.   What are the car parts and the screw type deals?  The cat is living whatever these plastic deals are, but I don't think they are cat toys? Thanks for the f 150 badge and the safety glasses. What is the button? I'll find a use for the oer clip, but what that will be, I'm not sure

So, I'm either going to have to really keep working on this, or I need some hints!

Clockwork, hint?

So I have been down this week with the flu, and anxious to get this posted.  The funniest part of the game:  My daughter is avid in her insistence she is not a "car person."  She is dating a boy who was warned about how much into cars myself and my son are.  He sees us open this box and is flabbergasted at how my son and I know what car parts were in the box, how we were beyond thrilled with all the stickers and hot wheels.  Hard to put into words, but really funny to see the two worlds collide.

Big Thanks to Clockwork Garage!

That Mickey made a helluva ride. I made him just under a year ago, and he made the trip with... something I sent Rico (booze maybe?) And now he's back down here.

That makes me wonder what single item in this has made the greatest geographical distance travelled. Has anything come back from Australia?

 I have your address.

There is a clock movement in the left hand side of your first picture. That goes in the hole on the plate.

The Flatulant ass is a regift from my first ever GRM box, I never figured out the original sender.

Th pliers were a last minute addition. They were actually a set of roadkill pliers I found on my morning walk. I was in the process of cleaning the rust off them when bill sent me the your info so I just stuck them in the box.

The water pump is a SBC short style that i picked up at a swap meet before realizing I have a long style. It barely fit in the box.

The beer is from the closest brewery to me and was selected because it had a beautiful can. I don't drink beer so no idea if it's good.

The wrench earrings are from my SWIMBO who bought them from my Ex-SWIMBO who made them.

The Muscle machines was the closest thing I had to any mustang content in the house, so that's what you got.

The carbon fibre caps are 373 hydraulic channels and I can't tell you what the metal reinforced carbon panel was because ITAR.

The button is the symbol of the OPA.

The OER clip is a centre console latch spring for a 2nd cen camaro that does not fit a 3rd gen.

A hint? It's not a code, it's a cypher.

This is so much fun!  And yeah, I probably need to get out more...   The mailman came up the driveway earlier this afternoon with a really concerned look carrying the box.  I gave him the cliff notes version of "rattle OK!" and he laughed.

First the box.  Someone is quite the artist!

So far we have Washington State, a Miata doing autocross and a Mustang like thing with a wicked big supercharger.   On to the next phase.

Top of box view was a silver bag, couldn't see much more.

Li Po Guard, Hmmm.  Oh!

Looks like some hobby / RC type lithium batteries and a charger.

In the next layer we can see a 12 V air compressor, a momentary contact switch / horn button with a mounting bracket, a car USB charger, a dash mounted ash tray (maybe?), possibly from Ford product with date codes on the back that look like May of 1999.  Something truck like in a display box, a black pouch and  a"White Pony" box.  laugh

The black thing is a back of seat tool organizer!

Digging into the next layer, we have a Ford tractor trailer "Muscle Party" in a display case, Drag Competition Series decals, a car USB adapter, a boost (!) control, a BMW key ring, a broken AMC key and a GM door key, Cork Sport lanyard, momentary contact / aux horn switch with mounting bracket, some platic mounting bits and what looks like a dash mount ash tray for a Ford product with date codes from May of 1999 on the back...

Snake Pit decal, a slightly chewed "Property of the State of Michigan" pencil, some sweet Rock Auto magnets, Nitto lanyard, an operating manual for an air brush compressor, what I believe is a sensor with a resistor (more research needed)...

Fast & Furious 1 & 2 DVDs (YAAAAASSSSS!), a little tree air freshener, Nitto lanyard, an exhaust flange gasket and from the "White Pony" box some small mirrors and single edge razor blades.  Wonder what those are for??? devil

Finally, a condenser for car ignition, an AC spark plug and a sweet rechargeable flashlight!  (Seriously, this will go right in the work vehicle, I always have a flashlight in my pocket on job site visits.)

Oh yeah, a business card with a YouTube channel, an orange AMC product and a smooshed traffic cone.   Where have I seen that before? Hmmm.  laugh

Thanks Javelin!  This was so much fun, we're really hoping my "victim' enjoys their box.   Once I started loading the box it really turned into a family event, everyone was on hand for the "unboxing" this afternoon.   Also, Emilio the guinea pig likes the box!

In reply to 11GTCS :

You're welcome! I couldn't sleuth out the real name with the screen name, so I had to keep it generic. There should be a Boss 302 Mustang inside the trailer. The keys are the OG keys to my 1973 AMC Javelin. The ignition key was half broken in the ignition when I bought it, so I changed the tumbler and door locks out. The momentary switch was the starter button in the Javelin as well until I got everything working correctly. The white pony set is a regift from last year. The 1999 ashtray is from the center console of the Porsche Boxster S. Glad you and Emilio liked it!

I try and regift at least one thing from previous years when I send over, so there's been a few items that have done Australia and back.

I've got a perpetual gift at the moment that I have to send back, so that one will rack up some Serious travel miles over the years hopefully.

Close but not quite- the yellow one in the snow there is Kevin Allen (presumably at Sno*Drift), the gold car exploding in the printed picture is Sean Costello at New England Forest Rally 2021.

Other fun things about that picture:

  • Sean won the car in a raffle years earlier so technically he paid $100 for it
  • That was the first photo taken by a remote camera placed in that location, and probably also the last
  • Pastrana tapped that same guardrail (visible disintegrating off to the side) earlier and offered to pay for it
