It was me!

sorry I've only been able to keep up with this thread in fits and spurts.

my 10yo son did all the box decorating. He loves rat fink and paint markers.

i did try to do some sleuthing but i ended up having to make a guess that it was you, but it was educated and i also seem to have gotten a bit lucky as well. That model was 3d printed by me, but i just found a model someone else online made. Hope it's fun to put together!

the orange motor is shiny garbage. It's an aftermarket starter from a Chinese gy6 150cc scooter engine, and while it still works somewhat, it has lost a winding or something and draws too much current while simultaneously not having as much torque as it should. The stator is from the same engine I think, in the bucket of "very cheap parts that look ok but no longer are".

okay, okay, some stickers... sounds good, what else?

WUUUT!!!! How cool! You're kidding me, someone did some sleuthing! How stinking cool!!!

Okay, let's keep looking. What else is there in here?

HA! I have no words! Fantastic-- haha well, SOME of it!

I guess I need to buy a 2007 Mitsubishi and some kind of motorbike?? And this motor - powerwheels upgrade?!

Also, the pliers are a bit of a joke. When the handles are closed, the teeth don't actually touch. Very frustrating if you do try to use them, I suggest you do not haha.

finally, those are the absolute cheapest pair of sway bay end links I could find with the ball joints at either end. It was for a challenge project years ago and I forgot what I was planning to build with them.

edit, and there should have been a bag with a 10mm and 8mm socket, but if that got stolen by the mail carrier I wouldn't be surprised.

My outgoing box is complete, as of 9:15PM. I will ship it tomorrow, then post pix of my goodies from out west.

minor confession: I didn't feel like going to post office this AM, so I opened my inbound box and reused it.

So, unboxing time for this wonder shipped so carefully from the final mainland addition to the Union. BS#2 is ready for the ritual opening and first look. What focus he has. We spend 5 minutes continually rotating the box to deal with the conflicting directional instructions, making sure everything is nice and well shaken. Oh, treasures!

To start there is a rolled up piece of some lovely vinyl with shameless promoting, this will make an excellent tarp.

Next we discover slightly used HB3 headlights, apparently from the aftermath of an LED swap.

A new best friend/Aldi Festivus decoration!

I'm honestly baffled by this box of mystery pieces. Some kind of cutting apparatus missing the primary part? Wiser folks will enlighten me, I'm sure. Also the requisite death wheels (in a size I use), and some worn HF cable cutters!

Prizes from Aichi/Koromo! (Not quite sure what the final words are on here) I'll see if they work on the Sienna, if it ever has something fail.

I've never done this, but always wanted to try it. Hopefully I can figure out how to get the results back to me. Also digging the EBay motors card tool.

Wow, the extravagance! Not just red tools, but made in German also!

Some kind of corner-forming metal working tool? Please let me know.

A pile of dirty laundry, some of which may come close to fitting. SWMBO is not pleased, but I am.

The big package! It seems to be a carb from a 70's Honda bike? Now i just need to collect the rest of the set and assemble.

A few stickers, rattle cans of Plasti-Dip, some fuses, tools, candy, bits-n-bobs and a booby, literature from the commercial Amish area of PA (5 hours from my old home, but I did go on the Strasburg Railroad as a tyke), toys, some bearings and seals, an O2 sensor, ignition wires that went through Naperville, Ill at some point that will get used as 10 Awg wire for projects, and electronics that you need a 2nd piece to use. Items sorted roughly by category.

An excellent haul with many fine items! Approval rating, 5-stars. As someone who had BS#1 do the artwork on my outgoing box, I appreciated all the descriptive language on the packaging and will consider that for myself in future iterations. I failed to get better pictures of what seems to be 3-D printed (TPU?) Octopi giving 8 middle-digit salutes.

Thanks mystery sender who real name I will continue to keep in secret for future stalking protection. Did you know I was from PA, or was that random? 2 of my favorites are here. This SEMA swag coaster/bottle opener is already in the garage, and the minicell will be used as outfitting and glued into canoes/kayaks. Also, this little hook is already installed in the garage! A few items will be put in the box for next year, please let me know if there are specific legacy items as I do recognize some repeaters here. Super fun first-time doing this and will continue as long as I have junk. Thanks again, and thanks to HoserRacing for putting this together! My box was finally delivered yesterday (a week late) so hopefully there is another update soon. Happy 2025 GRM!

Those metal pieces in the box are cutting inserts like for a lathe.  They go in a tool holder.

Glad you approve of the junk!

Some of it was recycled: The HF tools were recycled, and the clothing was recycled from last year. I can't remember if I used an old shirt for wrapping something but the jeans and nicer shirt are unworn. They carried on from last year but would definitely not fit me.

The corner jig is one I bought a bunch of years ago and would be fine for light-duty applications but it's dreadful for welding, so now it's yours. It would do better for gluing corner joints on wood applications. The Benchmark Abrasives sign was swag: apparently when you buy a lot of stuff from Benchmark, they send you a big vinyl thing. So there's that. You're spot-on about the headlamps. They're fine, but I swapped them for LEDs and then sold the vehicle they went to and still had those in the shop for some reason. The carburetors: Have fun with those; I can't remember what bike those came from.

The box of random cutting implements are turning inserts for a lathe. They're very useful if you have a lathe. If you don't have a metal lathe yet, I recommend you obtain one.

The black wire rack is a holder for wrenches or pliers, if you have some that fit.

Perhaps my favorite bit was when I had your box packed and ready to go on the kitchen table, just to come home a couple hours later to find my wife reading the "contents list" and laughing aloud. I hope at least I entertained a couple UPS delivery folks along the way. The lines of poetry are classics from some of the best poets of recent and current times: John Greenleaf Whittier, e. e. cummings, Emily Dickinson, Amanda Gorman, and Hatebreed.

I got a box last Friday from the Atlanta area but didn't get my boxes sent out until yesterday afternoon. RTR kid 1 was very interested in helping open the box.  Happy Ney Year to you too maschinenbau!

Scotch Brite pads, license plate, stickers, wheels spacers, UNI filter, some switches for an older ford and an invitation to the Challenge in t-shirt form.

My very own piece of the GRM Free Europa! There was also some weather stripping, an O2 bung, Innovate gauge face and a random mount in this layer.

Good stuff on the last layer. A couple of inline fuse holders, a chinesey third brake light kit, some velcro, a turbo drain and de-Obama-ifier for gas cans.  There was also a series of cables to go from what looks like CAN to serial, serial to USB, a couple keys and a few stainless parts I have no idea what they are.  Not pictured are the handful of stainless steel zipties because RTR kid 1 snatched those immediately and ran around the house giggling with excitement.

One well-worn box of junk arrived in my mailbox today. After I cook and eat some dinner I will find out what treasures are inside.

every year i say i'm good with shipping international, as we have some participants outside USA. this year is no exception. i can't say where this year's box is headed, but even marked "Gift" and with an itemized list with total declared value of $50 US, the USPS informed me that the recipient could be responsible for:

Duties:  $665.47

Taxes: $2,944.46

Fees:   $16.52

Total: $3,626.45

i said goddamn man it's not a box full of blowjobs.  the girl behind the counter replied "oh, if it was, it would be empty by the time it got through Customs."

I recently went to the post office to ship some stuff internationally for work. One of the items was tiny fabric swatches, like a litter bigger than a stamp, but there were 1000 of them. Whatever code entered in first the duties came out to $83,000.

without letting too much out of the bag for fear of ruining someone's surprise, i wonder if it was the 1000 zip ties i declared?
