One of the highlights of the '80s was watching Weird Al take over the MTV airwaves. This bit has been a favorite of ours since the dawn of time, and I figured that a few of you would enjoy it--especially those of you who also got tired of all of those Jefferson Starship videos. (And for the younger set, yes, once MTV showed videos.)

MTV was so counterculture and revolutionary for 15 years. How did the viewing public get so stupid?!

I never missed an episode of Al TV back in the day. Excellent find.

Cool story. Growing up, my friends and I always listenned to the Dr. Demento show on Q107 in Toronto. Weird Al was a mainstay, and when Al came to Toronto for a show my friends all bought tickets (I didn't). After the show, they hung around backstage, ran in to Al leaving the concert, and asked him to come for pizza. He did.

Actually, maybe its only a cool story if you were a geeky, nerdy kid in the 1980s, or if you've achieved some sort of "dork" status in an online community devoted to "weird" automotive disciplines and cars.

Either way, if the shoe fits . . .

In a bit of true irony, I put Al in the hotlink thread then opened this post. Cool.

"Get your ass outta here!" = ha ha

And what would life in the '80s been like without Rebecca De Mornay? Empty and worthless, that's what. I couldn't find the train scene from Risky Business on YouTube, but here's the Tangerine Dream music for it, for you music geeks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjPGmSqadxM&playnext=1&list=PLEE966D4318471AB5. (And if you like German, train-related electronica, listen to this, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k_P-Fzt-jc. Not as Sexay as Tangerine Dream, though.)

That's awesome! Even today, I'd imagine he would be one of a handful of celebs who would do something like that.

And the last minute of this clip is one of my favorite Dr. Katz bits. The song where he almost swears, it was funny when I was 11, and it's still funny now.

I had a 74 Type 4 powered Superbeetle until I was 19. Then I bought my first Fiat 124 Spider.

I just had a lot of fun in the 80s. I miss the colours, the clothes the girls wore, and the general hopeful feelings

Two things I love. Dr. Katz and Brian Regan. I guess he's been doing that bit for awhile, because my roommate and I used to crack up to that in 07. Still funny.

Watch "part two." The bit about staying at someone else's house cracks me the berkeley up. More 80's awesome: I used to put his "dirt cup" bit on mix tapes, usually between Anthrax and M.O.D.
