Not sure if it was anyone on here or not but..I saw a truck all decked out to look like a rally car today in Claremont, NH. It drove past my store as I was leaving work tonight around 6:30. Pretty sure it was a Nissan either a quad cab or extended cab. I thought it was a recovery truck, but it had numbers on it,a buncha SCCA RallyCross decals and names on the side back windows.
I knew it wasn't one of the local posers, this thing looked legit. Couldn't get a name or license plate on it.
A rally car..er. I mean truck is not something you see everyday in this town
Back when I was in Detroit region, Prepared RWD was owned by my 92 AeroVic, a 2000s era P71, and a 4 cylinder Toyota Tacoma.
You can really rally anything.
We had a jeep truck running a hillclimb... I think that was a rally-x setup they were having fun with.
For unlikely autocross, I submit this. http://youtu.be/zQDbESek5DI
I suppose this isn't too unexpected, but it's a fellow GRM'er, and is one of my favorite G35 photos. It certainly wasn't the first thing on my mind when I bought my G...

When my dad used to have a formula V car he had stickers on his truck (tow rig) to match the car, maybe the same deal?
Looks like one of the guys in the local SCCA region here is running a GMC Syclone in either CT or TT. So you can clearly race a truck in between all the cars. Didn't exactly look like that truck was holding up traffic either.

There was a guy up here about 10 years ago that ran a Nissan Hardbody 2wd pickup at Rally of the Tall Pines. The bed was removed and replaced with a "wing". The wing had to have weighed 400 lbs - all steel and right over the rear axle.
I can't find a pic of it!
Syclones are fast as hell.

Granted it's not stock, but it's still not set up for that.
I want a road race Tacoma.
I once saw my car in a magazine... with that caption below it.

Are you thinking of Carl Merril's truck. It had a 3 speed transmission and a ex BGN V6 in it.
If that is what you are thinking of I have a a VHS copy of the rally broadcast.

Info on that one, or a link? I am looking for wheels like that for a project- a hint of Minilite, but massive, and reasonably priced.
Wish I knew man, I wish I knew.
At one time there was a Rally Truck class in SCCA, but I'll be danged if I can find a decent photo of one.
This was around the time SCCA also had what Satch Carlson coined "Stupid Pickup Racing" in a hilariously scathing article in Autoweek. He suggested improvements to make it more interesting, like supplying each driver with a shotgun, case of beer, and a dog in the bed.
Random: while looking for those images I found this, proving further that anything can be a rally car:

Nope, the one I am talking about was owned by a guy near Toronto, ON. It was a Nissan with a 4-banger.
We need more rally pics in this thread.
V8 powered, rear wheel drive rally cars are the way to go.

It was Yavor Klostranec. I can't find any pics, either.
It was probably one of the Beliveau boys. They're from Laconia.

Ah, it's a Tacoma... Yup, that was it.
