I still think 5 was the best- sideways jumping up the hills makes me happy in the pants.
My take?

So 3 wins, a 2nd a 6th and 2 retirements isn't good enough this year. So he's not Loeb or Ogier and isn't going to win the WRC, but he's a solid National level driver who also has a great marketing machine he's created to pay for his chance to play. Wouldn't you if you could?
FTFY
I prefer Ken Box though....

If you are asking whether I would watch/participate in figure skating (even in an obstacle course) vs. Hockey, well, I know that answer. I would consider paying for his sponsors if he gathered significant points in a series. Not so much for just basic entertainment. edit- apparently I'm missing the whole Rally American scene. Rallying in the US USED to mean something, and got TV time. And it used to be on the WRC schedule at multiple places. Alas, it is not. So my preception is that he's an also ran in significant series. And I have no info to change that preception.alfadriver wrote: If one could translate that into winning some races, now that would be something.Eric, I don't get the hate. You do realize he races in the X-Games, and more importantly, in the Global Rallycross?

They are kind of on TV a lot. Great fun to watch, too. Nashco's been there in person, and I've seen Block at RA events. Signed stuff, too.(For big laughs, click here and laugh your butt off when you get to Seinz's photo.)
In reply to Javelin:
I ran into that over the weekend. Seemed to have missed that it's been on some significant channel, since I've not noticed it.
That being said, the Special Stage racing that they do for X games is good when it's a special stage. Otherwise, I don't go to autocrosses to watch.
Then that Rallycross stuff- well, since it has a gimmick in it, that immediately puts it on a "list". Add on all of the very sloppy driving- relative to each other, and the integrity of the track- and it's close to figure 8 racing. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But it's hardly something to really be something.
But, he was part of a top team in WRC, and did not really produce. Ignoring Loeb, too.
It's great people can do that. If there were a plot and actors, he would be another stunt driver.

Yes, him. The funny is: flatbiller kid, flatbiller kid, flatbiller kid (etc), wrinkly old man looking confused.

Gotcha. I did notice that. It's like "where did I leave my buffet punch card?"
In reply to alfadriver:
Yeah man, ain't nobody heard of that ESPN. I totally can see how you've never heard of it. Doesn't come in on my antenna, either.
You can "meh" all you want about GRC, but it's auto racing on network television in the US that has both left and right turns. I'm sorry, but I see that as a net positive!
(and it's also fun as heck to watch. My girls (7, 5, and 4) will all curl up next to me on the couch when I put it on in the family room).

ESPN = X games. Which was interesting once. Then it got old. Like I said, I found the season wrap up, and didn't find that race all that interesting to watch, either. Seeing all of the contact and sloppy driving, it's figure 8 racing on dirt with $500k rally cars. yay.
So since you guys keep bringing up my comments- I didn't finish watching- even skipped ahead a little trying to find something new. Having seen that movie before, it's rather monotonous. What thing can he get close to next and make tire smoke?
Rallycross is one of the few things I will actually go out of my way to watch.
A lot better then F1.
I'm not a Block fan nor hater. I appreciate anyone who can get paid to do something they love. Ike Foust as well but his driving skill doesn't impress me(especially in a kart).
In other news Pastrana has retired from Nascar

Good to hear. Pastrana is WAY better at sideways. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing him in Formula D.
I take back my previous statement. If Formula Drift ceased to exist I would be happier.
Pastrana says Rally and off-road trucks. He was pretty damn good at Rally. Better than Block

I got to see him rally his last season of ProRally- his movements are just so fluid it's shocking. I have a pic set somewhere I took of him setting up for a turn, he was like 100 yards out, flicks it, catches it as it goes sideways, holds it, dives the first corner which was about a 4 right, IMMEDIATELY flicks it again, catches it for 2 left into 3 right uphill... it was unreal.
I saw Pastrana drive at the Oregon Trail Rally a few times and met him, too. Cool cat and very fast in a rally car. I am happy to hear he's going back to rally.
I enjoyed it. Then again, I'm probably the only guy on earth who's been entertained by all the others, as well. I couldn't pull off one of those moves, let alone the full thing so I have to give him credit...

Can we please have this printed on the back of next year's challenge shirts?
