is the scout that rough that you're willing to take a sub $400 handgun for it?
Put it this way. On CL under "condition" I put... get a tetanus shot. The frame, engine, and tranny/transfer case are about the only parts that can be salvaged. Everything about the body is 90% waste.
I basically have $300 in the scout. It was free, but I bought some wheels/tires that held air for $60, paid for a court-ordered non-existent title, etc. My plan has worked out perfectly. I decided to diagnose what it would need and determine if its a keeper, scrapper, or has value. I actually thought it was a scrapper, but decided to put it on CL and someone stepped up with something that trips my trigger. (pun intended)
But this guy wants it to restore with his son. He's a scout collector and knew what he was getting.

Ok... I can see the tec-9 now. Makes sense.
Someone wants to trade me for the scout, but I think I'll wait for a guy who wants to trade a Glock 22. Much more useful piece.
I'd like to see the inside. There are some things that may make it worth more in some states. Either way, it should trade well under 400, so a Glock is in range. You just have to find the guy with the Glock that wants... that...
Actually, what I meant to say is... there is a guy with a Glock 22 who wants to trade. I just have to wait for him to make the 60-mile trip to look at it
... which he did today. He came by with the Glock and we traded. The Glock (by the serial number) was an Amtrak Police gun. Excellent condition.

Of the Scout? Um... here is what it looked like when I pulled it out of the weeds 10 years ago. Since this photo it has been sitting without glass for 10 years. Birds, wasps, and porcupines have lived in it since this photo.
