There were over 1 million people in Times Square tonight and only one of them couldn't remember the words to a couple Mariah Carey songs. It was the kind of performance 2016 deserved.

Had a great time with our Philippine/Asian friends. We have been getting together on new years for forever. Kids everywhere, Pinoy parlor games, karaoke, tones of food that I can not identify but it is dam good and yes there is lots to drink. The mix of about a dozen different dialect's plus English and drinking and card games and singing and video games makes for a great evening. There is about 40 adults and an equal number of kids. Ages range from a couple months old to people in there 80's. A great time is had by all.

Was taking the midnight readings at the steam plant when... bawham. What the motherberkeley was that? Never heard that before, that can't be good in a boiler plant.

Doin' a walkaround, pumps good, pressure good. Bawham. Helluva waterhammer if that's it. Still don't like the sound of that.

We had a group of SCCA people and friends over for oysters and fun. It was a great night to finish off a pretty great year.

Ringing in the New Year in the most American way I can. Bought it on a whim in Chico, Ca, and driving to Chicago roughly following RT 66 in a Beater AMC Eagle. 1900 miles down, 600 to go.
