Happy (early) Record Store Day. Why celebrate recorded music in a day of iTunes, downloads and whatever? Because community. Two years ago I joined some friends as they did six in-store performances across the state: https://youtu.be/KLUgx8w9Q0c L (I made half the stops.)
Last year I hit up a bunch of stores in NYC.
Both times, I found people who were just into music and happy to share the love. (Plus we got beers from one of the New York stores.)
So, tomorrow, why not pick up some music.

My buddy just texted me to make sure we're still on for tomorrow. 3rd year in a row we will be going. I might have to get the new slipknot on vinyl.
EDIT:
Speaking of record store day and what not...

Wow, tomorrow's Record Store Day? Where the hell have I been? Maybe I will have to venture out and snag something.
I will be going to Vertical House Records here in Huntsville.
Doh, meant to put this in the original post: http://www.recordstoreday.com
Sound Garden and Record and Tape Trader's I'll be heading your way (even though it's nearly a monthly trip)
Dr.Linda had a early 60's Galaxy with a reverb in it.
I need to dig out some of my vinyl and freak out my kids. With that weird thing called a record player that I keep telling them about.

Yeah, I now see that some Ford came with them. Is it a spring unit? And you learn something new every day.

I dunno if I'm gonna have time to drop into a record store (I'd probably hit In Your Ear! in Warren, RI) tomorrow to check out the festivities.
Despite this day being born out of consumerism, it celebrates music, which is a wonderful thing.
If all goes according to plan, I'm looking at hitting four shops--plus Brumos.
Read about this in the paper today:
It would seem that Jack White is a big fan of the King. The White Stripes frontman secretly bought Elvis Presley’s first ever recording at auction for a cool $300,000, and plans to reissue it for Record Store Day through his label, Third Man Records. Elvis recorded the two songs, covers of “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartache Begins,” in July 1953 at Memphis Recording Service when he was just 18 years old. White will make the vinyl available on Record Store Day April 18.
Got a late start this morning but still made it to two shops: Music Matters in St. Augustine, Fla., and Young, Loud & Snotty in Atlantic Beach, Fla.
Picked up some local CDs at the second store, while scored some nice vinyl at the first: OFF! Live From the the BBC 10-inch, Ramones debut on 180-gram vinyl, Miles Davis Kind of Blue (180g vinyl) and a Miles Davis 10-inch featuring four previously unreleased tracks. And I got to hang out with David Donohue.
Nice to see this being about small businesses, too. Each purchase at Music Matters came with a coupon for a free bagel at the bagel store next-door. Add in juice and a nice tip, and I think they came out ahead on me. Plus I wasn't the only person in there holding a brown bag containing a 12x12-inch flat package.
I went to a place in town that opened this year, got the Replacements EP and the Dead Milkmen - Beelzebubba.
They were doing a brisk business. Good to see a small retailer doing well. And in a spot that was vacant for a decade beforehand.
A friend and I were in line for three hours outside the local store before it opened. I was able to snag the only copy of the Violent Femmes EP that was in the place.
E36 M3. This thread just reminded me that I missed Rex Manning day...
You know, I held that Replacements EP in my hand and passed. Maybe I should have grabbed it.
Something else that came about this day: learning stuff. I talked turntable stylus stuff (and small business stuff) with the owner of the St. Augustine store, while the dude behind the counter at the other store turned me onto a local punk band. Then he threw another local CD in my bag--on the house.
I missed the Biz Markie picture disc last year.

I picked up Miles Davis Kind of Blue on 180 gram vinyl too! We went to The Exclusive Company and also got Bob Marley and Wailers Exodus and Amy Winehouse Back to Black, both on vinyl.
I was at the grand prix all weekend so I did some shopping on Thursday and today. Also got some Sammie Davis Jr, Elvis, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash vinyl.
