OK here is my problem I have a 2001 Toyota Celica. I want to get more HP out of the engine. Right now it is stock. I found a kit for it but i cant find any performance crankshafts, heads, cams, lifters, vavles. I am looking at having around a 11.1:1 compression. It is a 1.8l. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Isn't that the same engine used in the Lotus Elise S2's and the Exige? Might be a source some some parts.

It would also seem to be related to the 2.4L used in the Camry/Highlander/RAV-4, etc. When in doubt, more displacement rarely hurts ;)

Ok another question. My engine is a VVT-I. Would that have any effect on me finding parts? I am new to the improt world. I have mainly worked on Ford, Chevy, Dodge hardly ever did indepth stuff on imports.

I think it is more a case of it not being a Honda and in the US. If you looked in Australia and the UK you might find slightly more options.

Now, I have to ask what you need an aftermarket crankshaft for to get 11:1 compression ratio?

I would order a set of forged rods and pistons with a better headgasket and do a basic rebuild and go from there. If you can find someone that knows those motors (likely an Elise person) then perhaps some head parts can be bought from them.

Finally you'll need to tweak the electronics to alter the fuel, timing and variable valve timing system like they did on the Elise.

In reply to fiat22turbo:

I wanted to replace all internal parts. The 11:1 compression were pistons i found already. It also came with a copper head gasket, main bearings, rod bearings, piston pins, a complete gasket set, and i believe connecting rods too.

Do you have a GT or a GT-S? (1zz or 2zz?)

if you have a GT why not just swap in the GT-S motor/tranny/ecu?

In reply to Autolex:

From what I heard they are the same motor with just a couple changes on the intake. BUt I have a GT.

they made a turbo kit for the GT back when they were new. almost certainly going to be larger gains for the money than cams, pistons, etc.

If you've got a GT, the most economical way to get more power is to swap in an engine from a GT-S, or look for the supercharger kit from TRD (http://www.toysport.com/webpages/WebUpdates/Catalog/Sportsparts/1zzfeSC.htm).

The GT has a 1ZZ-FE engine with 140hp with a 10:1 compression ratio, while the GT-S has 180hp with a 11.5:1 compression ratio. The differences are much larger than just a couple of changes on the intake.

You will probably get much better answers on a dedicated Celica site.
