Holy CARP.

I just got an e-mail about this and my mind is now blown. Quicksand played on Fallon last night and did 2 songs from "Slip" (Omission and Fazer). They sounded damn good (albeit toned-down a bit from their heyday).

These dudes came out about 5 years too early. Astonishing that they never blew up. This music was way ahead of its time, IMHO.

WHAT!?!? Yeah, it's weird how many of those bands do mini-tours. I have the "songkick" app on my phone. It looks at my ipod and tells me when any band in there goes on tour. They're playing at the Bowery tonight.

I wouldn't consider them punk or hardcore but it's awesome that they have been performing again.

For you vinyl fans, they are re-releasing Slip next month.

Well, one can easily argue that Walter Shriefels is a hardcore legend with his pedigree. Most hardcore fans I know dig Quicksand. :)

For fans of the genre who don't already know, OFF! (Ex-Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Red Cross, Rocket from the Crypt, etc, etc) is touring with Negative Approach, The Spits, Double Negative, and Power Trip.

I've seen OFF! 3 times in the past couple years, and they're really, really great. It's like seeing the perfect 1984 HC band, and it's not "retro" 'cause they're all from then.
