I'm sure I could Google enough for an answer but where is the fun in that?
I just paid 1.49 each for 2 M14 nuts at the local farm store. The same place where I could get almost a pound of 1/2 inch nuts if I needed Freedom Eagle hardware. But, I needed them and sometimes you gotta pay the man.
Most farm stores around here sell bulk SAE bolts so whenever I need a few I buy extra and have built up a nice collection for those immediate needs.
If I go to a farm store in Ontario do they have the same bulk bins for metric? It would be worth popping across the border for a shopping trip if that was the case.
I don't think it's any better up here.
In theory we are metric. In practice we are not really much, if any, different than you
I used to have a Tractor Supply store around the corner when I lived in Ontario, and the bulk stuff was all English then. That may have changed since then.
I think the only thing that an American could just pop across the border and save money on would be medications. I paid $7 for 2 copper washers from a suburban hardware store a few months ago. Metric hardware is still less common than SAE here.
For ones and twos that doesn't sound bad for pricing. Dig around on https://belmetric.com/ to compare. Once you get above 25 of something you can start to save some real money.
Welp, I guess my dreams of making a metric hardware run to Windsor are like my inhibitions after a case of Sleeman...... shattered.

Where you at these days? Rural King and Farm Family Home are both pretty well stocked on bulk metric stuff, at least by me in southwest PA.

Im back in Michigan now so Family Farm was actually where I bought my hardware. I was hoping to find a nice bulk discount supplier.
I miss the sandwiches in NEPA but I don't miss your weirdo booze laws!
