Slight detour from topic for the laminate folks. And hey with 6 dogs no way in hell I'm having real hardwood or carpet in my house. But laminate kinda sucks too. Look at vinyl plank. Looks as good or better in most cases than laminate, more durable, slightly softer under foot, installs the same way (click lock) or easier if you get the glue edge and unlike laminate its impervious to liquids.
I chose Brazilian cherry because I had a 100 lb. dog. It held up very well. It was worth the extra expense.

I have 6 dogs, there isn't a hardwood alive that will hold up to that long term. Tile or vinyl for me.
THREAD BUMP
So, we've been done laying the first floor, master bedroom and closet with 3/4" thick 4" wide hickory planks. It's a beautiful dark, rustic stained and scraped finish that hides blemishes and nicks from heavy things falling well, and does great with our 2 cats!
Now, we're looking at the stairway up to the second floor, and would love to floor the stairs. I'm a little nervous/leery about the stairs, as they are a high traffic area and would hate to have issues with them. They are currently carpetted. My plan would be to have the treads hardwood, with a matching bullnose. The risers would be white. The look, I can see in my head, but the execution is worrying me some.
Patgizz () has been a great help along the way, with tips and support via email, and I'm curious if others have done this before and what to know before I execute.
Thanks!
Looking for bamboo installer or specialists Ambient bamboo floors will be good for bamboo flooring.
Oooh.... I'll bet a bamboo canoe would be lovely.

You could put a bamboo floor in your canoe.
