So, there is always low blows given to Speed about their content. I've seen recently its gotten a bit better with them showing BTCC and some FIA GT and Aussie Touring Cars and thats all good and fun.

Here is my question. The Camera Crew is already at Daytona for the 24 and Conti race. They are recording the quail for both series. Why don't they broadcast Quail Live? Its considered, in my opinion, one of the greatest and prestigious races in the World. Even the Nascar guys are wondering if Jimmie Johnson and Jamie McMurry will win the 24 it will hike them into greatness with Mario and AJ Foyt. I mean, they will show Craftsmen Truck Qualifying from Dover, with all 2 fans going crazy in front of the tube, but they won't broadcast 24 Hours of Daytona Qualifying? I'm sure there is more to it than just broadcasting it, but I would love to know why. Thats all. Rant Complete.

They would show it, but they need the time to re-broadcast the auctions from 2 or 3 years ago. Like anyone G.A.F.about old auctions.

Nobody will pay them to do it. It all comes down to advertising unfortunately.

i'd think they could set up live web streams for a lot less than what they'd need to put it on tv.

'Been thinking about this one. If I'm not mistaken, broadcasting it would require buying satellite time, which is not cheap. Live streaming web still requires a crew, so you're paying salaries. NASCAR now runs/owns(?) Grand-Am, and is not thinking globally like the ALMS-people do,( nor is there a comprable series, the LMS in europe for an international audience.) So, it's cheaper to simply to ignore the relatively-small, hard core audience who would watching qualifying or stay up and watch the night racing during the 24 hours. Also, with the truck race, it's instant gratification, better ratings, and easier to sell to advertisers.

That said, I think it's a big snub to the core Grand Am audience to completely ignore 9 hours of racing (10pm to 9am) when, as history has shown, the outcome is often dramatically effected.
