I run a bluetooth helmet communicator, but I'm not satisfied with the sound quality. The speakers and microphone are currently one wired cable. is there a way to split the microphone out and use earbuds?

This is the plug to the BT piece and Mic/Speakers inside the helmet. notice it is a bit longer.

This would be standard earbuds connector.

Stereo headphone have two lines on the plug, for left and right speaker. (mono only has one) The three lines on the current plug correspond to left and right speaker plus a mic. So you need a 3.5 mm TRRS connector.

That would allow me to use the existing mic and separate earbuds? I don't care if the speakers stay driven,

that looks too small to be a 3.5

it might be a 2.5

check Monoprice for splitters of both sizes, they might have something that works.

well...earbuds are 2.5, the speaker/mic is a 3.5 that plugs into the bt unit
