As a frothing at the mouth, right wing nut job, even I have some sympathy for Acorn in this case.
You can always cast a broad net over a school of naive fish and catch some salacious & provocative little morsels.
Besides, in their defense, the employees were happy to provide their “service” to these non-urban folks so at least there’s nothing discriminatory going on.
The big threat coming from Acorn is their pervasive voter registration fraud, the fact that former senior members are now holding positions in the White House, & that they were given a major role in taking the upcoming US census.
Helping folks misuse tens of millions of tax payer dollars is neither surprising nor very impactful relative to everything else that’s going on so this is just a quick little chuckle as far as I’m concerned.
Fox already broke the story, Gameboy. You don't think CBS or CNN would run that, do you? They didn't even run with the largest demonstration in Washington DC history, with between 500,000 and 1 million people there protesting big government and big taxes. Not a newsworthy story. It never happened. Move along.
I see...actually the Fox news story makes it sound a lot worse. Really bad, if true:

And CNN (don't watch CBS, obvious heavy bias) has covered the tea parties (or at least I heard it...I listen to the news on the TV more than watch it sometimes), but they should really do away with the tea party theme, because as I saw a Slashdotter post the other day, "It's like the King of England showing up to protest at the original Boston tea parties...they missed the part about 'without representation.'" It's kind of funny.
Hi Gameboy,
Hannah is pretty cute…I’d tell her to “keep the change”.
Hi Dr. Hess,
FOX should have purchased commercial air time at the end of those stations broadcasting day and just said…this station has had all day to tell you what’s going on...do you know anything about this historic event…conduct a little experiment by giving us 25% of the time you spend watching the news for one week and be your own judge.

Really? Bigger than the civil rights / Vietnam protests?
...Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, the group that organized the event, said on stage at the rally Saturday that ABC News was reporting that 1 million to 1.5 million people were in attendance.
At no time did ABC News, or its affiliates, report a number anywhere near as large. ABCNews.com reported an approximate figure of 60,000 to 70,000 protesters, attributed to the Washington, D.C., fire department. In its reports, ABC News Radio described the crowd as "tens of thousands." ....

In reply to RX Reven':
the issue is that Acorn, an organization that receives a lot of tax dollars, was advising people on how to get around paying taxes on money received through their underage prostitution business.

The National Parks Service no longer estimates crowd sizes for demonstrations on the National Mall, because of partisan and biased bickering. IIRC, the last major event to be estimated by them was Louis Farrakhan's "Million Man March". Therefore, all arguments of crowd size are essentially a mute point.
FWIW, The Parks Service estimated the crowd size at the "Million Man March" at 400,000 (which fell short of the event's sponsors projections. It was a hot topic, since at the center of the event was the assertion that the sponsors would be able to raise up 1 million participants. Later, Boston University estimated 850,000, and the BBC News reported 1.9 million attended.
The Parks Service realized that all their estimating was a worthless effort that only leads to political bickering, so they stopped.
Regardless, I think Hess' point was that it was a big event that didn't get covered. It was, and it didn't.

I saw it on the news and I don't have cable, both regional and national covered it...
but when you carry signs like
I don't care what you have to say.. you're a kook and written off.
I don't see a problem with that sign, iggy. And if you want nut case signs, I'm sure we can find plenty from both sides.
Spoke with my friend that went to DC. He said that his estimate is between 1.5 and 3 million people. He is a professional statistician, he does not exagerate. I could get a confidence interval on that number. Even Fox is downplaying the truth. He talked to some DC cops who said it was the largest event EVER in DC.
