Last week a friend of a friend got run over by someone running a red light, trying to ID this car from security footage. He's mostly OK but driver kept right on going after taking him out

first guess is that it's a BMW 5-series Grand Tourismo (GT)... but I think I'd expect its rough to be higher up the side of that Explorer(?) that it drove up next to?

other thought is 2013+ Ford Fusion?

In reply to sleepyhead the buffalo :

Good guess but the Fusion's rear window curves up to meet the C pillar.

Malibu has high cmhsl, this one has a package shelf level one. I looked at fusion, malibu, and legacy already.

how about 2021ish Accord?  Taillights look wrong tho

2015-2019 Sonata:

The Fusion and Sonata are very similar in just about every way. The overall shape, the shape of the lights, the location of the reflectors, and the general body lines on the side are nearly identical. But the Fusion has the CHSML near the top of the window instead of the bottom, and as noted, the C pillar may not be right.

I think I see a chrome strip that runs along the door sill, which makes me lean toward the Sonata but it's really close. And I think the Sonata has a package tray mounted 3rd brake light too.

In reply to STM317 :

The sonata has a bunch of what the car in question has for sure. Rocker panel area and body lines are there, taillight shape there, side glass shape there.

The Sonata posted above is 100% my vote. It was the first thing that came to mind before I scrolled down.

I reckon you're right, although I think it's probably between 2015 and 2017.  2018 - 2019 had tweaks to the bumper.

I reckon it's a 2.4 SE... not the 2.0t (which I think has the quad exhausts), and not the hybrid.

I think the tribe has spoken.  My first guess before scrolling down was Sonata.

Pretty clear photos, cops can't enhance it enough to get a plate number?

Cleveland's "finest" said that it would be 6-8 months before it even gets handed to a detective for investigation, and that something like 1 in 5 cases only ever gets investigated beyond marking it closed and unsolved.

also I'm pretty sure license plate enhancing on this level only happens in the movies
