It's our first Christmas married (7th together) and I wanted to get her a helmet. Yes, a helmet. She autocrosses as much as I do and actually needs one, plus I'm gross and sweaty and have a big head so she doesn't like wearing mine.
I want full-face and 2010 rated, though M would be fine (I don't see her needing an SA helmet for quite a few years if ever). Her head is a Small according to the Shoei scooter open-face we have and the generic cue-ball she borrows from the PCA.
Ideas? She'd like a pink or purple one for sure, but not too girly.

If you were closer and time was not an issue I'd love to do a custom striped one for her. I just recently redid my MC helmet.

But get something in pupleish...that's not too girly. And a nice solid color then she can customize it as she sees fit.

I'd suggest spending the few extra $$ and get the SA helmet. You never know when you might want to do a track day or Lemons event, and then you will need an SA, and be kicking yourself that you cheaped out the $50 and didn't get the SA. You won't be buying another helmet for her for 5-10 years hopefully, so make sure that you get one she can use whatever your racing life may bring.

I've done 3 track days with my M2005 with 3 different clubs. You only need SA to wheel-to-wheel race and we aren't doing that anytime soon.

Some clubs allow M rated on the track, some do not. Where I am, they do not.
You want a ful face helmet, what does she want? Auto-X you're not peppered with pebbles and rain unless you're running an open car. Talk to her before plunking down money.
"Oooohhh honey, I love you so much, but I hate this helmet" two years from now.

Thank you. Im still not at a great level, still learning as I go. Been doing it off and on for about 2 years now. Best thing you can do is pick up a brush and some paint and start to practice. Get a decent Mack 0 and a can of One Shot and a piece of glass to practice on. Glass for 2 reasons. You can clean it off with a razor and keep using it and it has even less surface friction than most paint so if you can get good control on that its easy to transition to work on a painted surface.

Good question. We autocross a Miata. She has used both my closed face and borrowed an open face. She prefers the closed face. Also, we have a go-kart.
