I'm going to be doing the timing belt and associated parts soon on my 2001 Volvo V70 T5M. While I'm in there, I'm going to powdercoat the intake and cam cover. Here's a pic of the car in question
Here's a pic of the underhood, not my pic, but is representative

The large center cover where it says "VOLVO 20 VALVE" will stay black(?). The cam cover under it, and the intake will be coated.
I had red or blue wrinkle finish in mind, Joey48442's wife said yellow wrinkle finish.
What say you?
Red?
Blue?
Yellow?
Something else?
What about the center portion with the text? gloss black, flat black, textured? Something else?

Goooold baby!
Anything too saturated is going to look tacky, but a pale gold would work great.

That gold would be the brightest color I would pick. I would go silver/grey/black if it were up to me. Any primary colors would look tacky IMO.

Would the wrinkle finish look good though? Think about a Ferrari cam cover.
Still tacky?

Ford did nice looking wrinkle-finish valve covers in blue for some of the performance Mod motors. It's not too far off of the Polestar color, and usually looks pretty good to me.
I like the look of wrinkle finish, but I'm not sure the Swedes would do it. They seem more like smooth and glossy paint/powdercoat to me. It would go with the smooth, clean scandinavian style they tend to prefer.
I like the pole star blue is a good idea. If not that, then something with rediculous amounts of bass boat metal flakes.

Wrinkle finish definitely helps. If it were just the cam cover I don't think it would look tacky, I just think doing the whole intake manifold brings it over the edge.
I didn't want a bland engine bay either when I was doing my engine build. I went with wrinkle black with Ford Blue (Dupli-Color engine enamel) highlights.
Of course this is just my preference. If you like the 'pop' of lots of color in the engine bay then that's all that counts.

Think more Ikea, less Polestar. Gloss White.

I like the feedback. But if I don't go with a textured finish, do I need to smooth out the surface? Not sure hiw that would look

Winner winner chicken dinner.
Alternatively, polestar blue with yellow Lettera sounds good.
How well does wrinkle finish clean up?

I actually have a subdued gold powder already! Just not sure how that'd look.
In reply to mazdeuce: I have no idea.

The reason I ask about cleaning is simple, it sucks to go through a bunch of cost and trouble to make something look cool and then have it get dirty through driving and forever look crappy.
I like that color gold, but that would bug me in a silver engine bay.
I'd go for the Swedish blue with yellow or white letters.
But that's just me
