Generator brushes for my Ford tractor, that is.
I thought these would be easy to find online from one of the tractor parts places I buy from, but no go. I thought maybe I'd challenge you search guru's here to help me find a set, as I'm sure they must be available somewhere. I have no local source for them.
It's a '74 3000 gas tractor. It's a 2-brush generator. Please post here if you know of a source for these. Thanks!

"How about a New Holland dealer? Part number 309791F two required."

I'm a member of tractorbynet and already saw that post. Problem is there are no NH dealers I can find that sell online.
Call one and order with a cc over the phone?

Drive down to Akron Tractor and buy the part. Your profile leads me to believe you are 8.3 miles from it.
I swear seems like I have seen brushes for sale in good hardware stores.
No the electrical kind.
My JD dealer could get almost any part for any tractor.
How about a coil for the magneto.

That domain is for sale - nothing there.

Already did. two weeks to order them. i need them now.
I actually did after searching on that name. But where do you see that they have the brushes? I couldn't find them.
Go to the hardware store, buy a set a little over sized, and sand to fit. Done.
I would do that, but no hardware store around me has them.
In any case, I was asking about online sources, but thanks anyway.

You know, I'm not sure, because it has no markings on it, but I think it probably is a Lucas. Only thing is, I don't by part number which one it would be on that page, if any. All I have is the Ford number (30979F), and unless I missed it, that number is not listed there. A couple of them do look like mine, though. I'll have to measure one of them when I get home and see if it matches one on that page. Thanks for the link. I've been searching all day and that company never came up. How did you find them?
One of these may be your best bet:
Places for starter rebuild near Tallmadge, OH
Performance Starter & Altrntr - Place page
maps.google.com - 2031 Harrison Avenue Southwest, Canton - (330) 456-3019
United Starter & Alternators - Place page
maps.google.com - 1716 Dillon Place Northeast, Canton - (330) 452-1234
I know its not online but sometimes its easier the old fashoned way.
Looking at what the stock piece is - seems to be the same part that's on my triumph tr4 - we had a lucas part on our old 9n...some are remanufactured, some are under licence and may not say lucas on them. anyway, the question is where to find brushes for a lucas generator instead of a ford tractor... cross ref the generator model number (i'm guessing the C40-T) with a car and you can probably pick up the brushes at napa.

Thanks. I didn't know anything about the generator since it didn't have any markings. It was new a couple years ago. The tractor caught on fire and pretty much burned everything. The local New Holland dealer rebuilt the whole tractor and the generator was replace in the process. That's why I didn't want to buy a new generator - It's in great shape and just had a freak failure of one of the brushes.
I just got off the phone with a local company that supplies rebuilds to other local company's, including Akron Tractor. He initially told me that he doesn't sell just brushes, only rebuilt generators. But after I whined for a while about how difficult it was to find them, he agreed to sell me a couple if I brought in the old ones for him to match up. So I sent my wife, since I can't get there before they close. Hopefully he'll have the correct brushes, or something close enough that I can modify them to work.
I need the tractor tomorrow, so I'll be a happy man if they have them.
If not, I'l contact the company you gave me the link to and see if they have them. Thanks again.
Well funny thing. After insisting on answers for online suppliers only (thinking I either would not be able to find a local source and/or didn't have time to do it), my wife came through. The local place didn't have the brushes I was looking for, but had some close enough that I just had to file down a little. My wife picked them up for me and I installed them Saturday morning. This tractor has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned, but recently has had a rash of problems. After an electrical fire than burned up the entire front and rear harnesses, voltage regulator, ignition switch, light switch, starter solenoid, and then having the generator go bad, I was glad to get the thing running...Then a hydraulic hose blew....
