I remember as a little kid I had a toy semi truck, it was black, the area above the cab had a train-style split window, and it had huge metal brightwork on the sides. And one day a cousin of mine who was a truck driver at the time drove the real thing - looked just like my toy - up to my house and I was just floored by the sheer awesomeness of it. Anyone know what truck I'm talking about? The general shape of it was a lot like this (in fact this may be it, I just ran across it GIS'ing "semi truck top cab"):

Except it didn't have a wing, it may have had a small fairing there.
About how big was it? There were/are dozens of companies making toy Kenworths. With the size I may be able to narrow it down.
Thats a long nose Kenworth w900. Pretty sure that sleeper was a Kenworth only deal.

Is it really weird that i want one of these Semis? Even though i have no idea what i would do with it?
Can't say what size it was in feet or anything...it was a pretty large semi truck, about the size of the example I posted, that's all I know.
The toy on the other hand, I can't remember too clearly either, I couldn't have been more than 3 years old. I'd say the truck was bigger than micro-machine size but smaller than a matchbox car (in terms of the footprint of the semi), It came with a matching black trailer, 40 or 60ft container with smooth sides.
I want to know about the real truck more than the toy.
The long-nose Kenworth w900 looks like a good candidate, now does anyone know about a factory black & silver paint job?

I almost bought a '57 semi with a modern drivetrain in it for $1700. Not idea at all what I would if it at all.
Kenworth will paint one any color you choose. I had a friend who factory ordered a pink one.

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_modules/add_item.asp?ProductCode=DCP31841 I don't know that this was your toy, it sure as hell isn't the right color, but this seems to closely match the specifics, what with the whale tail and all.

You should trek over to Penfield, IL next summer, the have an annual antique tractor show that also has an awesome vintage/antique truck show. There were restored and detailed rigs worth more than everything I own.
Have you paid your dues, Jack?
