Went to a fantastic show last night at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit. Florida band called JJ Grey and Mofro. Holy hell did they kill it! JJ has two of these guitars, and I've never seen one before. Would love to know what it is.

JJGrey is on my play list.
"Discovered" him on Pandora, then saw him at the blues festival 2 years ago.
Check out "Too Slim and the Tail Draggers" from Spokane
In reply to Jumper K Balls (Trent) :
four minutes! Jumper K Balls delivers! so i googled Teisco Spectrum 5 and found this comparison shot of the Teisco vs the Eastwood repro. Based on the one-piece pickguard on JJ's axe, I think JJ is playing the Eastwood.
top is Teisco, bottom is Eastwood:
In reply to AngryCorvair :
I would bet he's playing an Eastwood. Most Teisco's weren't playable when new, and some not even after having serious work done to them.
The band's website says they use these instruments: Guitar (PRS Guitars, Gibson SG, Gibson 337, and Gibson Southern Jumbo Acoustic, with vintage Fender Showman w/ Tone Tubby 2x12, Fender Super Reverb, and Fender Champ amps), Keyboards (Wurlitzer 200a, Nord Electro), Harmonica (Lee Oskar, Hohner)
In reply to preach :
i had a teisco del rey that was kinda cool to look at but sounded like ass. probably from 40 years of improper storage and handling.
anyway, since we've got some at least one Higginbotham on GRM, here's a thing i found about JJ playing some PRS guitars a few years ago:
