Anybody remember a show from the late 80's or so that involves what I think was a Grumman goose, or possibly an albatross. I thought the show was called tailspin, but apparently that was a cartoon. Any body (Chris Matthews) help? It was an adventure type show, and I thought it had Bruce McGill in it, but I'm not so sure.

Tailspin was a cartoon with Baloo the bear. Watched it all the time as a kid.
"Tales of the Gold Monkey", perhaps? (early 80s)

The infamous Fantasy Island "De plane! De plane!" was a Grumman Widgeon.

That is the only Widgeon that I have ever seen with radial engines. They originally had Ranger inline 6 cylinders. Most have been converted to horizontally opposed 6 cylinders. I thought it was a Goose until I looked at the tail and wingtips.

Yeah, I know, but it looked good... here's a more normal one:

I'm sure it's tales of the gold monkey. I loved that show as a kid.
Sort of an Indiana Jones wannabe tv series.
Riptide was fun too.
I read the title and thought

Now I need a big sandwich
