I haven't watched that in a long time...thanks for posting it.

Me in my "Over 50" league 9 years ago. The fellow who owns the sweaters had two complete sets , home and away, and most of the red set were actually autographed. My #4 had Jean Beliveau's signature on it. I grew up about 50 miles from Montreal and "le Gros Bill" was my hero as a kid. The owner of the sweaters wore #9 and it was autographed by the Rocket. The league is in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

That's pretty damn cool.

I used to work with Bob Rouse's nephew. His (the apprentice) peewee team lead the local league in penalty minutes, lol.

My team hasn't been relevant for years, but I always appreciate mocking Crosby.

I'm not sure they're mocking him.

Grew up in Ottawa but the Senators are a bunch of upstarts. Go Habs. Last time I saw either team play was at the outdoor NHL 100 Classic. Brr.

And for those heathens who think it's something obscure  - this story was actually referenced on the Canadian five dollar bill.

Of course they’re just playing for a replica of a silver fruit bowl. The best gift from Lord Stanley will never be leaving Vancouver- Stanley Park.

I have to question the fortitude of the Quebec culture since they let a simple virus stop their invasion of Florida.  I haven't seen a Quebec tag since March 2020.

So, does all "Canadian culture" just kind of ramble on and not have any sort of resolution?  Or is that just a Quebecois thing?

In their defense, they're French.

It's not the first time the French have been defeated by nature, look at the Panama Canal.

How can one say the Canucks weren't contenders in 2011? They were the best team in the league that season, and made it to game 7 of the Final. Arguably they were a better team than my Bruins, but the Bruins played better for the majority of the final, even in the three losses they had(all by one goal). Looking back at the stats of that series tells a different story as it was like 23-8 in goals scored, but the Canucks were a contender, and very skilled.

As a Bruins fan it hurts but I am rooting for Montreal this time. Tampa is a terrible hockey market with terrible "fans" that I will never root for. If you need to give out noise makers for a playoff game you're not really a good hockey market. If you have the PA announcer telling you that the "insert team" is on the Poooooower Plaaaaay, you're not a hockey market. If you complain about another team posting funny billboards about your team during a playoff series, you're probably not a good hockey market. Plus I'm not a big fan of Pat Maroon riding the bench to three cups in a row. Berkley that noise!!

My hatred for Montreal goes back to the mid 80's as a child, but this Habs team doesn't represent those teams. Also I actually like a lot of the players on the Habs, and they have the best road uniform in the league hands down. That white with the blue and red, just pops so good. So I'll hold my nose, and say Go Habs, Go!!!

With all this being said I predict Tampa in 5. They really are that good, and I hate it.

Homer, Alaska. Weights were 155, 142, 137, 115, 90 lbs.

So that I'm not totally hijacking the thread, here's the Canadian $5 bill, with "The Sweater."

My rule for "should you be allowed to have an NHL team" is natural ice. If kids can't play hockey in the backyard, you shouldn't have a team. Arizona, Florida, California, Nevada, etc - you guys can play ball hockey instead.

As the resident Québecois on this site, I am always a bit shocked by all the hate we receive from the many people here and in the rest of Canada. It explains why most people in Québec don't consider themselves canadians and I'm one of them. I'll keep the rest of my opinion on the matter to myself. This has been floundered enough.

I'll be cheering for my Habs as always even if I'm really not expecting them to win. Tampa really is really strong. I hope they'll make Tampa pay dearly for their second cup.

Yeah, sure, but... It's the Canucks. Couldn't win with Bure, Messier, Sideshow Bob, Sedin, Sedin, Kessler... They're not a real team, never have been!

(I just really dislike the Canucks)

I feel ya. The team I hate the most is the Penguins, but the Bolts are gaining steam.   As a young kid just getting into hockey it was the Habs, but after spending a lot of time in Montreal, I love that place, and the fans(mostly) are great people.

Nope. This is a long-standing opinion of mine. Probably dates back to the Gretzky trade or at least the expansion south. You can't have ice hockey without ice.

I also refer to the Avalanache as the Nordiques. And believe that Anaheim should have kept the Mighty in their name to acknowledge where they really came from, a product tie-in to an Emilio Estevez movie.
