Think this will work for my purposes?

Let's pretend all I know about taking good photographs is that I need something cleaner and better lit than my kitchen table or my work bench.

My purposes are to take pictures of food, sauces, and smaller things I cast, cut, or weld together.

I don't have the space anywhere for a permanent picture taking area, and I'm looking for something a bit nicer than white cardboard and printer paper. This appears to have everything except a camera that I'll need, and I stick with LG phones specifically because of the manual mode in the camera(that I barely understand how to use).

Or am I over thinking and over spending again, and there's something stupidly easy to do with a pillow case and some hf flashlights that will get me the same result?

Cheap roll up window shade, two daylight (6000k) led light bulbs 100 watt or better equivalent and cheap clamp-on worklight holders would work

Have you read the "Lighting 101" content here? http://strobist.blogspot.com If not, I recommend it. It covers all kinds of useful lighting techniques for all kinds of budgets.

About halfway down. Not sure how to link directly. Just need a cheap white roll up shade and some lighting. Works great!

Actually I could probably make that work in the garage with some moving around and some tables.

I guess I should clarify some. I'm really looking to be able to take better pictures in my under lit, cluttered dining room while I'm cooking and making things. Having to go into the garage for every shot would become a pain quickly.

If I really take a lot of time between every shot adjusting, and it's bright outside to help the 40 watt overhead light, I can get decent looking pictures.

but more often than not, everything just looks kind of yellow and washed out.

Now my phone camera really is a basic DSLR, and all these options do change things they're supposed to. White balance, ISO, shutter speed, and I do have a very basic understanding of what each one does, but not how to adjust them all together, so I kind of wing it.

So i know there are things I can do with the camera to make it better, and in post processing which for me is clicking the "auto adjust" button and adjusting the sharpness a touch. But everywhere and everyone seems to say lighting first, so the idea of a collapsible, white and bright photo tent is appealing.
