A good friend of mine played badminton at York. She was excellent at basketball and volleyball (played both in college); but those were her only sports and she needed another to be a 3 letter athlete. She ended up finishing first on the team and something like 7th in state.
I was a competitive swimmer for eight years and I think my Dad must have been at 90% of my home meets. I give him huge credit for this, as even I had a hard time watching the entire meet when I was competing. Plus, it's always 120 degrees and humid up in the stands.
Go see your kids doing what they love. You only get a limited number of chances to do this. It's awesome.

I go to all of can. I told her I would watch her if she sat on the bench the whole time.
I was messing around a bit with this topic. I just find it funny sometimes.
I married a music teacher and am therefore conscripted to a lifetime of elementary and middle school musicals and concerts.

A friend of ours - three boys all in band and choir. Father is high school band director, wife is junior high school band leader.
So I says to the guy at a concert one night - how many concerts have you sat through in your lifetime?
A lot he says.

Olympic badminton? I can definitely watch that. Maybe I'm biased because I played competitively for years in my youth.
Your poor parents.
Hah! By 'competitively' I should clarify that was a quick way to say that my Dad got really into badminton when I was a kid so I played a ton from age 8-17. I'd play him 1v1 a couple nights a week and we would regularly go to adult open gym and play doubles. Luckily the guy running the open gym and the other adults didn't mind a kid attending. Except when we beat them.
So weeks and many games have passed by.
I love it. They are good players.
Its a wicked good sport.
Yesterday I went to my 4 YO grandson's first T-ball game. It was like they turned a bunch of squirrels loose on the field.
In reply to spitfirebill :
Tee-Ball is rough on spectators.
In reply to spitfirebill :
The high point of my nephew’s game was when they found worms under 3rd base.
I have 4 sons.
They early on played T ball.
Dads pitch 3 balls before they set the ball on the tee.
I was pitching/bored and my son drove a blazer square into Nic & Ned.
I went down for an eternity, it seemed, in front of the whole world.
Whatever sport they play, I now have, never ending attention, and appreciation, for whatever they participate in.

Well said. My hat is off to you, sir!

You will be completely into badminton before the end of the school year.
The season ended yesterday. My daughter ended up doing well. The other teammates were encouraging and helpful. I apologize for bashing this sport cause we ALL had a great time!
