I love WW II era aircraft (I own a '41 Aeronca).
~HERE~ are some truly neat photos. What I like about these is there are more of the service crews shown.
Many of us have seen the more well-known (almost propganda-like) photos. These seem more "real world" (although a few may have been staged).
There are 129 and some are repeated, so if you see one that you've already seen, click passed...there may be more you haven't seen. Warning: some dead bodies shown.

Thank you!
That gallery kept me glued to the screen; it is definitely one the greatest collections I have ever seen. All the pics give a new appreciation for the dangerous conditions that existed on Iwo Jima - on the ground, in the air and even when not under enemy fire.
The poignant meaning of the Marine cemetery with Mt. Suribachi in the background pretty much says everything.
Simply incredible; thanks, again!
Its a little known fact outside of aviation: all pilots "fly" with their hands. Look at any pic were the pilot is describing his flight. I should know, as I do it too.
A friend of mine has about 25 pictures of nose art on the walls of his house that his grand father took when he was a pilot in Europe in WWII. I could look at them for hours.
