If you have a Venmo, cashapp or PayPal don't post it directly in here, but let us know how to reach out to donate to help. I'll be in Eastern Europe Saturday, but it will be an unknown amount of time before I'd be able to get away from where I'm headed.

You guys...  are just stinking awesome.

Right now we've got more than we can process.  Give us a few days (maybe the weekend) to get our heads caught back up to our bodies and we'll come up with a way to put GRM's efforts to the best use.  I might have a couple ideas that only dorks like us could pull off.   But don't worry.  These families are fed and sheltered, we've got time on our side.  There are a lot of good groups still out there doing a lot of good for people walking through winter.

Here's what my entry way looked like when I got home (the truck still has stuff in it too):

There's more piled up behind the door.

Ukraine has called on technology companies Oracle and SAP to suspend operations in Russia-Oracle says they have already done so. Oracle is US based and SAP is German, but both supply technologies that underpin everything from parking meters to power plants. I have no idea how much of an impact they could have on this, but we're likely to see increasing calls for other tech companies to halt operations as well.

The new way of waging war is strange.

No matter what walk of life you come from it's hard to disagree that we need to feed people who have no food.

Good on you Bill.

Can you name any reputable organizations? It's hard to know what to do, or even what can be done. I tried to contribute to one organization this morning and the transaction just refused to go through.

Keep us posted. And thank you.

We're on Wednesday now (holy crap, has it really been only 36 hours) and Mrs. Hungary and I have found ourselves centered in this new organization we seem to have created.

Are you accepting donations?  Car stuff can wait.

This - find a discreet way to get a paypal/gofundme set up for the "HungaryBill For Hunger" project and we'd be happy to donate.

Is that a Russian or Ukrainian source? Cause it seems like that would be a really dumb thing for the Ukrainians to say

Interesting offer if what I hear about Russian conscripts is half true. or if the story is true.  https://english.alarabiya.net/News/world/2022/02/28/Ukraine-offers-amnesty-and-money-to-Russian-soldiers-who-lay-down-their-weapons-

Ukraine will give amnesty and money to Russian soldiers who lay down their weapons, the defense ministry said on Monday as Kyiv ramps up efforts to end Moscow’s assault on its territory.

“We offer Russian soldiers a choice: to die in an unjust war or full amnesty and 5 million rubles [$47,293] in compensation, if they lay down their arms and surrender voluntarily,” Ukrainian Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov said on Twitter.

Much better offer than getting shot at and the roughly 10500 rubles paid their family if they are KIA.

Is 5 million rubles something like $51USD at current valuation?

As horrific as it will surely be, I'm not sure why anyone would confidently think Putin won't use the nuclear option. He won't blame anyone but the United States for cratering his economy and I'll bet they're locked and loaded.

I think it comes down to "Is he still rational?" To be sure, it appears he misjudged this conflict, but that is different than being irrational or suicidal. Perhaps the war will last for a year, and the sanctions will last for 10 years...but Russia could have Ukraine for a hundred after this. Having said that, who the berkeley knows.

I mean I personally think the likelihood of Russia using nukes at this point is pretty small. Putin wants to rebuild the Russian empire as much as possible not leave it as a nuclear wasteland. Also he does not strike me as a man who is suicidal
