Maybe I need a fuzzy red dot on the windshield.
That's some serious Buck Rogers stuff there, JG.
A friend at work was looking for some 9mm. There ain't none. Wally World counter guy says that there's a line 20 deep in the afternoon waiting for the truck to show up from the DC. So he looked for components (primers, boolits, etc.). There ain't none. All the biggies (Midsouth, Midway, Graff, Natchez...) all sold out. So, what are the race gun guys doing for ammo? Pretty hard to go through 1K rounds of 38 Super in a weekend when there aren't any small pistol primers in the country for sale.

We're making do so far. As soon as anything shows up in stock anywhere whoever sees it first emails their buddies and it get swept up. And folks are buying way more than they need, and stuff that they don't need, so people are swapping back and forth. For example, I use small rifle primers in the 38 super, but I found some small pistol magnum primers in stock the other day that I ordered. And today at the match I talked to a buddy who needs magnum primers, but has a bunch of small rifle primers he doesn't need, so we made a trade agreement.
But also, match directors are trimming down matches a bit. Where before you'd see a typical club match of about 150-180 rounds, now it's 120-150. and folks are more likely to pack it up if things aren't going well. If your gun isn't running right on the first couple stages, no one is going to waste ammo troubleshooting, they'll just pack it up for the day until they can get it back on the bench.
No one's panicking... yet, but everyone is keeping on their toes and trying to keep stocked up on supplies. I have a feeling that the component manufacturers have seriously increased production, and by the the time that the next couple waves of backorders get filled, things will be largely back to normal, if not better than before with a surplus of ammo components out there. I think by summer, reloaders will be able to find most anything in stock, and by fall the Wal Mart shelves will again be stacked.
