yeah, about that AC not working so well. If I doze off and face plant into my keyboard, I'm holding you guys (my employer) partially responsible for the dental bill to remove the "g" key from my gums.

anyone else set to "slow roast - low" at work until this heat wave passes?

90+ degrees in the shops yesterday (no AC in a building 1/4 mile long with 400 ft. ceilings). The floors are creasote soaked wooden blocks to lessen the blow when you drop a heavy gun on them, you could see the blurry fog of heat lifting off the floor by noon. At 3:00 it was time to pass out.

Pity the poor heat treaters ....

No in my office it's normally kept meat locker cold, even in the winter.

I'm sitting at my desk right with a sweater on, even though it's 90+ outside.

same here. I have a space heater under my desk year round. I usually have had enough AC during the day that I drive an hour home without it, even in this heat.

We're averaging about 55 degrees in here. I'm ready to start a fire in my trash car to keep warm. (but it's still better than being hot IMO)

Only mid 50-s here right now, but it was in the 100's yesterday according to my cheap thermometer.

I caddied all weekend in it, lost about 7 pounds even though I drank 2 gatorades and 5 24 oz waters.

From yesterday to today, most of Wisconsin dropped 30°F.

Minneapolis went from 103 on Tuesday afternoon to 53 this morning.

Back to the original post - I picked up a little desktop fan at Office Depot for use on those days when the office A/C isn't cutting it. Works pretty well.

A bit north of you we got the same drop. But it was from 90s to 40s.

You guys mind passing some of that cold air a bit farther south down the Interstate?

Srsly. If you all turn South and blow really hard at the same time, maybe you can push the jet stream down a bit.

Record highs and record high-lows for the past few days, no real end in sight. Looks like its shaping up to be a brutal summer, after last year's record high average temps. Yee. Haw.

As soon as I figure out how to box it, I'm shipping this warm humid air north. I feel for the poor Wisconsinites and their 50 degree temps.

My house doesn't have central air (just a wall unit), so most of the time I keep the windows open. And wear as little clothing as possible. What the neighbors see at 2 am is their own problem.

Nooooo we like the 50 degree temps!

Kinda on topic but I have no A//C in the car and it is hot as hell in the car. And now I have both my usual farmers tan but also a truckers tan.

In the office - no. I'm quite comfortable although the woman in the cube next to me is always cold...

Ask me again in 2 hrs when I'm 30 minutes into my drive in my truck w/o working A/C to pick up an engine...

Hey, where'd you find that?

Bldg. 110, the BigGun Shop. In the pre-electricity days, mules were kept in the stables seen at the lower left side of the photo.

Making 16" Naval Guns in 1943.

This and the one Brett p;ut up are of the low bay, the high bay is the break in the ceiling, it's 200 ft. higher. They heat treat the gun tubes by hanging them vertically into a heat treat pit in the floor. The pit is at least the length of the gun, the crane is that height plus some.

Cool stuff.
