Oh! Why did he open the packages?

Now all of the value is gone! lol.

(I am a collector nerd, I have a few thousand...)

You are not helping me resist the urge to buy the oddball Matchbox cars that have randomly started showing up in my local ghetto grocery store. P1800! XK120FHC!

I have a friend that collects and has thousands.

I also think he's nuts. Hot wheels are to be played with. I can't wait to get him drunk on wine and play with his collection.

I know a guy (me, actually) who came across a box of unopened Hot Wheels. I sent them to my cousins. They all have kids.

Nice find. I have quite a few redlines and this would be a nice way to display them.

I look through the HotWheels section when I'm in Target. I'm not a collector, but it's to the point where if my wife is with me, she'll ask "are you going to look at Hotwheels?" lol

I just grabbed the 2 versions of the Tyrell P34 6-wheeler (in blue and in white). I tend to just buy what I like--I don't care about getting entire series.

That said--I still keep them in the packages...

I collect Hot Wheels (and Matchbox, and Johnny Lightning...) but I open the packages. There's a line-up on my window sill at work.

Very cool. I hear that a Hot Wheels BRE Datsun 510 is in the works, too.

My new collection is up to 6. A white pro stock Neon, green Tesla, silver DMC, white Tyrell, white 510, and a blue V8 Vega.

I might ad my hot wheels under reader rides. Some people do that with model cars.

And I have considered getting duplicates, so I can have one to play with and one to "collect".

How do you play with them if you keep them in packages?

I have a collection of Hotwheels and Matchbox Minis. Not opened. Sitting in a dresser drawer. I can't resist them when I see one that I don't have and they are only a buck.

I have a new found love for hot wheels lately. My two year old loves them and I don't have to feel bad spending $1 whenever we go somewhere that has them. Also, I can pick out all of the cool cars for him.

I also stop by the Hot wheels / Matchbox section whenever we go into a store that has them, my 8 year old has @ 500 easy. I also open them as soon as i get home.

I will have to get a pic of my office and post it up, my kids love coming to work with dad.

yep, I have a few as well, I have the 510, the silver DeLorean 9the way God intended it ), a TR6, a Regal GNX, an R32 and An R37 GTR, and a Shelby Cobra still in packages, as well as dozens and dozens it a shoebox in the playroom we have for my Niece and Nephew. What I really want, and have not yet been able to determine if it exists, is an AE86 or similar vintage Celica.

I need to build some display cases like that for the home office.

I too have a hot wheels problem, and value be damned I open every one.

I've begun giving my collection to my nieces on birthdays, etc. They get a normal gift plus a car. They do not get "little girl" things from me. Hey, even Barbie needs a car right? The oldest will be 11 in April. Too early for a tool kit??

Somehow preserved from my youth is a fold-out carrier for Hot Wheels that becomes a race track grandstand plus about 30 mid 70's cars. It sits behind my desk at work plus the various Miata and now Lotus versions that I have picked up. Not interested in value; just memories.
