In the near future I should be able to drag my 86 Monte up here from my parents and begin to work on it. I'm hoping to make it into the Nascar look a like I wanted as a kid. I'm looking for some '80s parts like the Aluminum spoiler, fiberglass SS nose, some 15x10 5 hole wheels, and if possible the Aerocoupe bits and any othe 80's goodies I can find. I can find newer stuff everywhere, and older stuff pops up from time to time, but the 80's bits seem to have disapeared.
If I remember correctly, Charlotte Motor Speedway has a ginormous swap meet/show around thanksgiving. It's called the turkey-somehting or other; I'd give that a try, plus start looking at some of the nostalgia NASCAR sites on the web.
With the racing economy the way it is, you might want to contact the teams themselves to see if they are willing to get rid of "that stuff" in the back of the shop. I would bet a few of the struggling teams have or know where some of that stuff is.
Good luck
The latest Day Motorsports catalog I got seems to have a lot of '80's G body replica parts, but they are plastic rather than fiberglass.

They also have the rear sections as well.

I dunno where you will be able to find that big ol' rear glass; maybe someone can make a Lexan piece for you?

Looks like it has a boatload of links...could be worth perusing.

Rear window and trunk in Miami for $500. It's just the Aerocoupe parts and not Nascar specific.
Wally,
Are you looking for street parts or roundy round parts?
Speedway Motors has the roundy round nose:
Track
Honest Charlie's has the street nose:
Street
I would think with a couple detail photos the aluminum rear wing could be fabricated. As for the Aerocoupe rear window, making that conversion is probably going to need a donor to cut the pieces out of.

go here to find lexan windows and plastic noses..
for the cost of that stock replacement nose in the post above mine, you could buy a complete rolling Monte SS for a parts car, and sell the shell off to someone looking to build a circle track car for almost as much as you paid for the whole car.
Alright so we will have Wally's Monte and my Olds who else is going to join in on the fun?
Though my Olds will have the steel bumper and the front and rear spoilers will be built similar to the ones in this article
well, i have a 88 monty carlo ss, but its already setup for circle jerking when i got it though. hoping to have it done this sept and i can drive it anger at leastonce before it goes away for the winter.

IIRC, There is a car show/swap meet there next weekend (27th-29th).
The swap meet is more of a general parts type thing, not NASCAR related.

Geez Wally, in the 5+ years I've "known" you on this forum, this is the first time I've had any indication that you owned something cooler than the Crapolier.
If I had some more money I would be adding a Regal to the G-Bodies around here I just found a turbo one for sale around town.
In reply to Jay:
Unfortunatly for about 6-7 years it's been collecting leaves in my parent's driveway
what do you guys think of this?
Monte Nascar replica
Not that I'm interested in buying it, just htought it seemed kinda cool.
I like it. He's about halfway to what I want to do. Picture it lower, with wider tires and the fenders cut and flared to match. I'm also keeping more if the interior because I can't see having a street car without heat/defroster and a radio. I'm also hoping to pick up the pieces to convert it to an Aerocoupe.

Speedway Motors. Get the catalog just to look at all the cool stuff!
The nose I'm looking for is different. in the 80's GM made one that looked stock but was fiberglass so it wouldn't flex at speed.
Howe has all the suspension and chassis bits, fivestarbodies or pitstopusa has the bodywork. They are usually for tube chassis so you will need to futz with them but it should be doable.
Do you have a pic of the nose you are thinking of?
It looks like the street car part but is stronger

Ugh... you guys are making me want to move back to Charlotte. I'm not really a NASCAR fan but the gearhead scene there is off the rocker.
The wheels should be easy enough to find. Lots of places sell a 15x8 black wheel like those.. Heck, find a local oval track guy and see if he has a spare set.
I scored these wheels for $125 and it made my car look like some famous drivers car.
I've got wheels, four black 15x10s with little 11s painted on the back that some team was throwing away before such things were "collectibles" I also grabbed one green one but it's very old and not so round.
So are we going to add an oval track event to the challenge?
I need to pick up some wheels and may end up just buying new considering all the ones I have found local were as Wally said "not so round".
Got an email tonight a guy has an old stock car for me to come look at to scrounge parts from
Hopefully I will get over there this weekend I will let you guys know what I find.
