As the Bloomberg article mentions, they were already building Jeeps in China before the takeover. It also says, "Manley referred to adding Jeep production sites rather than shifting output from North America to China." The NLPC article smacks of fearmongering to me.
Makes sense to build 'em where you sell 'em and China is a huge emerging market. That's how the Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, KIA, Subaru and Hyundai plants got built here; as sales went up it made sense to build plants here. I don't forsee Fiat sending production of US market vehicles to China.
Chinese Jeeps- since 1984 - AMC did the first joint venture. Daimler stayed with it. I haven't really considered Chrysler Mericun in some time.
The Chinese tried to buy Hummer and no one really cared. But it looks like they did do what they do best:
I saw an XJ in china with a partial raised roof, kinda like a conversion van, that was absolutely awesome.
