I've been half looking for a truck for the winters and to take on the beach. I've also had a desire to run in the Dakar since I was a kid. Here's a chance to try both but I am guessing it's going to be out of my price range.

I'm thinking you need a new company car, don't you?
Go fund me? Go fund yourself, pal!
Think of the beer you could haul in that thing. Par-tey city there.

This is grm. We don't need go funder me. We need Copart, bat and Govdeals, and we can make that E36 M3. If you wanna get real sassy, i troll monster truck forums and i almost always know where 2.5 ton axles are.
GoFundMe (or any of the crowd sourcing sites) operate pretty simply. You have to offer a benefit to your sponsors. Their name on the truck, a free ride in it when its done, or something like that.
You can't just say "I'm broke and I need money for a toy." It can work if you are looking for charity; like "I'm a homeless divorcee with three kids and my 86 Camry just died and I need $1000 for a reliable Tercel." In that case, the benefit is altruistic charity.
One of the reasons I didn't crowd-source for my 18-wheeler RV project is because I couldn't find a suitable benefit to my donors. If I had planned on making it into a business, I could have offered stock options or something, but I just wanted an RV for myself.
Last time I checked (it has been a while) deuce-and-a-half's were going for about $2500 on government auctions, $4-5k if you wanted one with a winch. Make a box to fit your needs and make the frame to fit the box. Under $10k finished if you watch what you're doing.

Don't they top out at about 55mph? Yeah not winning any races in that thing. Literally or figuratively. Doesn't mean I don't want one of those too.
