That's the rub.. I have great work ethic but my whole industry disappeared with the housing crisis..
That is pretty much my world. I work in theatre as a stage electrician.. people are not willing to spend the money to go to the shows.. so the big shows are not coming around
(it does not help that a mid range ticket to a big name show can run 100+ dollars.. )

I know! I was just shopping for Cirque tickets for the wife for our one year anniversary and the 'good' ones are ~$285.
I should be reduced to 56 hrs/ wk down from my current 72 hrs when one guy comes back from sick leave next week. Four outta six in our maintenance gang were on SL... so two of us walking wounded were covering three shifts.
I had the crazy/ entertaining thought of turning in my two weeks notice to just get the berkeley outta this zoo... and I haven't felt so good in a long long time... dunno if I'll do it yet.

Just finishing up on my busy season. Record for a pay period was 217 hours (in 15 days) and I worked 35 days straight. Thank goodness for my Costa Rica trip I have planned as soon as I get home!

No joke! Only reason we got to see "O" year before last was because we were given amazing seats for our wedding.
Ever since the automotive bail-out and the whole Fiatsler deal, we've been on 10-hour shifts, six days a week. We get every third Saturday off, so that's not too bad.
But due to a seriously recalcitrant robot, as of Wednesday of this week, we're now on 11-hour shifts. My German Overlords and the union both tell us that this is temporary... Unfortunately, where I work, if the company and union both tell us the same thing, we immediately know it's not true.
Overall, the number of hours per week are tolerable. ALOT of people work more hours than I do, and make less money, so I'm thankful to be where I'm at.
The problem I'm having is, working 11 hours on 2nd-shift, I now get home about 4;30 in the morning. Really hard to have a life, see friends and family, and get things done around the house. Instead of being able to sleep-in a bit on my days off, I get up earlier.
Just signed the lease on a shop with enough space to wrench on a couple project cars, with room to store a couple more. The problem is finding spare time to move everything out there so I can enjoy it.
