Probably a couple times a day. Happens when I realize I'm not adding anything of value.
Don't think I've ever stopped short on a new thread creation, though, but I'm usually very rarely doing such a thing.

Imagine if we didn't........Margie would have a gargantuan patio.
Seems like quite often I'll type something out, then realize how embarrassing it would be if I posted it. Rewrite once or twice then finally post only to find someone else has given the same information in the time I was debating about how to write. 1/2 the time I quit or realize my response is way to happy-shiny and decide to say nothing at all.
2-3 times a day- depending on if the wife is feeling.... wait this was about threads on the forum.
I usually do it a couple times a week, not too often though, I like my postcount.
I just did it in this thread, but then I realized none of you would know I did it, so I came back and made a post to tell you about it.

I half expected this thread to get ZERO responses. You know, for the whole ironic, hipster aspect.
Many many times, especially in political and religious threads. It’s cathartic, prove to myself that the other person is a subhuman moron then common decency gets the better of me and ‘ping’ it’s gone. I still have the smug self-satisfaction of being right AND not showing the poor fool up for their obviously stupid point of view. I might just save myself a whole load of embarrassment at the same time! I’ve also done it a lot in financial/life threads, where put down a whole lot of personal info then delete it so I don’t share that info with the world and meta data droids.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
I'm pretty sure I've never posted anything in a political thread here. I agree with the vast majority of GRMers, I just don't want to be associated with patios!
I've gotten better at it. Both on this forum, others, and in life in general.
I've realized that sometimes it's just not worth it.

We know... oh boy, do we know...
I don't do it often enough, but I'm getting better... some threads I just look at the title and say, "I don't want to go there..."
All the time. That's why this makes post #41 since 2008 . Most of the time the answer is already there and I don't have anything better to offer once I've typed it out. Also I like to read a lot.

this is the most honest thing that has ever been said on the internet. (Keep it up....at least you make me laugh.)

Nah. Honeslty, I'll get halfway through a huge response and go "Jesus Christ; why the berkeley am I wasting this much time and energy trying to change someone's mind, when they're going to think/do whatever the berkeley they want?" As recently as last night in the insurance thread.
You'll need to log in to post.
